I purchased a door through a contractor in Colorado while building my house. I assumed it was an Andersen door because all of my other windows and doors were Andersen. One day, I locked myself out of the house and I pushed on the door (not very hard either) thinking that the locking mechanism might give. Instead the fiberglass door snapped in two! I couldn't believe it.

I called Andersen and they said they would be happy to replace the door or refund me, but when I looked at the info, I discovered it wasn't Andersen, it was a Thema-tru door. I called Therma-tru and got no answer from them so I left a message after waiting 30 minutes. I heard back from Gary 7 days later and he told me that they don't warranty those kinds of things. I asked him if it was normal for fiberglass to snap like that and he admitted that it was not, but stuck to the fact that that type of damage was not warrantied. I stated that Therma-tru advertises safe secure doors, and he stated that if someone wanted to get in, they would find a way.

I was very upset about all of this and amazed at the responses that Gary gave me. I asked if I could talk to someone else and he said no, that he was the top of the line. He then apologized. I purchased this door less than 2 years ago. Do not buy Therma-tru doors. They are not made well and when they break, they will find a way to make sure your problem is not under warranty.

Whenever I've had a customer complain about a thermatru door, I'd make one phone call and they'd send a guy down to look at it, and 9 times out of 10 they'd replace it. You should call again, and just keep asking for that person's boss. They clearly need to replace that.
