I bought a RCA model# 20F424T on 2/9/2008.This tv was placed in a bedroom that my grandson stays in when he visits. He has been at my house 5 times since the tv was purchased, and the tv may have 20 hours viewing. Now the tv turns itself off and on by itself even when no one is home or in the room.

I called RCA service and was told that they do not fix this tv but it was under an exchange warranty and set up a claim # 31YWZ. Now if I wanted to exchange it I needed to fax them a copy of sales receipt from WAL-MART and they would contact me in 24 hours. I faxed the sales receipt and waited for them to call.

They called me today but said I would need to pay $72 for a labor processing fee and they would send me another tv and I could send the useless tv back with a prepaid shipping label. I was SURPRIZED to say the least the they wanted me to pay money for a labor charge, FOR A TV THAT THEY DO NOT REPAIR ONLY EXCHANGE, and this was the only way they would handle my claim.

I tried to speak to anyone at RCA that could do anything else, but after 45 mintues on phone with 4 people, the last who said he was they manager, I got really PISSED OFF and hung up the phone.

I do not understand a company that will not honor a simple basic principle of giving the customer what they pay for when they purchase their product. First you pay $160.00 for their product which has an expressed warranty, (and I use this word with great reservation), then when you have a problem and the product is still under, so called, warranty. You expect to be treated like a person with some brainwaves still functioning ,and the say you need to pay $72 more for a labor processing fee on a tv they do not repair only exchange. This makes you wonder if they think you are an idiot, because I'm not going to pay them more money just to be SCREWED again.

I also wonder if the reason they don't repair this tv is because it may have a known libility issue that they don't want discovered and would get the old ones back to help hide the fact that they produced some real junk the could cause other issues on unsupecting consumers.

This is one person who will never buy a RCA product ever again and will tell any ,an everone I meet this story.
