I think you've been shafted by Thompson. However in your title you said you've written letters to Walmart. I'm just curious why you would do that. Unless you had the extended warranty, then Walmart is no longer involved in your situation. If you have a big hearted Store Manager like we do at my store, you could call him/her and explain, but they would be helping you out completely on their own. They would also be taking a loss on the product. I also think you might contact BBB or something like that and complain. Good luck.
