lololol pretty surprised to get a response after all these years!!! Well, I went with AT&T back in 2004, and with all its identity crises, etc., still very happy with them. I don't ever get mystery minutes popping up, no roaming, no long distance charges, and when I entered the text message world, I've found a plan that suits me well. I check my bill every month, because that's what every consumer should do, so if such things popped up, at least I'd notice! If I had serious customer service issues getting it resolved, I wouldn't be the happy camper that I am, not at all, but since August 2004 or so, it hasn't happened yet. Yes, I know that every time you say 'boo', they increase your contract two years, etc. I don't have a problem with the provider, so if that happens, well, it happens. There's worse things in the world than having to pay a termination fee if for some reason I decide to change. I read Ripoff Reports pretty religiously, and I ALWAYS check out cell phone posts. I check out the ones for my provider, and all the rest, as well. I do this so I can see what kinds of problems people have with cell phone providers. So far, I haven't had any of the problems reported about, and YES, I AM GRATEFUL for that! I also am grateful to never have to worry about not having phone service, or buying minutes, or losing my phone number, or calling customer service four times a year just to get the phone to work. I don't have to worry about switching models, as I was unaware, until this 4-21-2007 rebuttal to a 7-21-2004 report, that minutes WEREN'T transferable to another model of a TRACFONE PHONE? They sure never told me that in my extended time on the phone trying to do EXACTLY THAT. Had they told me that, yes, I would surely have filed a Ripoff Report for that very reason. If that was indeed the case why they couldn't get my minutes transferred, WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST TELL ME THAT? Why put me through all that aggravation, and aggravation for the Customer Service Rep who had me keying in endless strings of codes in an attempt to do EXACTLY THAT - transfer current minutes to another TRACFONE model. That wasn't a cheap phone call for Tracfone either! AND, 10 whole minutes DID get put on the new model before I was disconnected. Tracfone did me a favor, lololol. I got rid of them!

True, I believe that the terms state that minutes are not transfferable to another phone. I know that going in but so what. I spend a total of 100.00 per year for a phone with 1 year of service and 500 minutes. Pretty cheap and straitforward for nationwide and anytime minutes. If You think you got ripped off, wait untill you sign up with an open ended phone plan with monthly bills sent to you. Then, like I did, you'll probably start getting 100's of mysterious minute useage showing up on your bill anlong with huge overage charges. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. And, yeah, the phones only have an expected life of 3-5 years anyway so you'll be replacing them with anybody you go to.

Tracfone is horrible -- RadioShack will be dumping them in the near future. You can still get pre-paid. Check out Cingular's GoPhone, or Virgin Mobile. Both are excellent, and are easy to use. In the future, research before you buy -- read EVERY bit of information you can find on the company's website. There's a LOT of catches, loopholes, and other caveats to be aware of when dealing with prepaid cellular service. ALL prepaid minutes expire, and if you don't add minutes within a predetermined time frame, you'll lose your phone number, and will have to get activated all over again.
