I was about to fall into this trap!

My young daughter was "scouted" at a Mall in Dallas on October 18 and we went to the open call in Addison. I was skeptal at first because the scout's card was not his own and he wrote a non-working phone number on the back.

The open call was EXACTLY as others have stated here... even using the "I'm too Sexy" song for runway hopefuls!! I was just there on October 19 and will get "my Orlando phone call" tomorrow... thank God I saw this. I had a bad feeling about this, and I just think about how many people were in that room with us, hoping for the same "break" that we had hoped for.

They sure put up a good front; nice office, full brochure.... a one time fee of $595 was for just ONE picture on the website, another "one-time" fee for each additional picture! (plus the $19.95 monthly upkeep).

I now have to break the news to my daughter :(

Hi Susan, This is the kind of post that really gets me. I feel so badly for your daughter. I know how much these young girls really get their hopes up. I read a note that was written some time back by another mom. It was on another website. The mom said, "My daughter is in her bedroom right now, crying her eyes out." It breaks my heart to read such reports. It may not be of much consolation, but for the short period of time I spent w/ Options Talent as a Model Scout, I REALLY took my job seriously. I approached some extremely beautiful people. I refused to just walk up to anybody. I have a feeling your daughter is probably absolutely adorable. If your daughter is really serious about modeling, there are some very reputable model agents out there. I would do some more research in your area and take her to one of these agents. They will be honest w/ you. If they think modeling is not for your child, they will let you know. As you have probably discovered here, there are also some reputable professional people in the business who visit this website. Maybe someone will see your post and know of a reliable source in your city. Just a thought. Keep a stiff upper lip. Thank goodness you did your homework before taking the plunge. You're a very smart mom. Best to you and yours.
