Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was VERY relieved to find this forum and to read each report. If they've ripped so many of us off, does anyone know if we have grounds for some kind of group action? I'm not an attorney or anything, but I wonder if our situations meet the requirements for some kind of "class action suit." I have no idea what that is except that it's in the movies and on TV a lot, but with so many complaints it seems as though SOMETHING should be done together since none of us seem to be making progress with the company alone.

Here's my report:

Despite having "played by their rules" and cancelling my membership via registered/certified mail within the 3 day limit the company imposes, I have yet to receive a single dime. I have contacted the company numerous times since 8/30/02 regarding the terms, and actual termination, of my membership and the associated refund due to me.

These discussions may be summarized briefly as follows: 9/03/02 with "Jean" via phone; 8/30/02 with "Julie Artrip" via registered mail (receipts of postmark date and reception of letter have been kept); 10/19/02 @ 7:34pm with "Ally" via phone; 8:34 pm that Tuesday via phone with "Kevin"; 10/22/02 at 9:41pm with "Patty" via phone; 11/06/02 at 9:14 am with "Rob" via phone and, lastly, on 11/06/02 with "Candace" at 10:20 am via phone. I recorded the last phone call with Candace was with her permission.

On each occasion I was assured that my refund was "in the works", "in progress", "on the way", etc. and, moreover, that I had "done everything right." Unfortunately, I never did receive any refund and, to this date, still have not received even a partial refund, an apology....frankly any type of response on their behalf.

When I asked to speak with Nina Mason, the director of client services and/or Janet Matthews, head of their accounting department I was told flatly that "They (Mason and Matthews) did not accept phone calls. Period." I find it ironic that the director of client services does not accept phone calls from....well...clients!

On November 6th I explained to "Candace" that the unreasonable length of time that had elapsed between my request for a refund and any tangible action to that effect has led me to feel I no longer had any recourse now but to permit my attorney to move forward with legal action.

I am generally a patient individual and feel that I have been more than reasonable with this company for the past 3.5 months. However, the aforementioned incidents, the "no phone calls policies" and the manner with which this has been handled (or not handled, as the case may be) has truly puzzled me and tested the limits of my patience.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, January 07, 2003

Ichiye, I am awed by your eloquent writing style. I envy your restraint. As you can see by my posts, I have a difficult time holding back. Your advice to count to ten applies to me too. I am not an advocate for this site, but I thank God for it. Like yourself, I am a victim. I answered one of the 'Dream Job' ads several months ago. Who would ever have thought we would end up here, venting our grievances? I continue to return here to keep updated on the TCT goings on. I also continue to research the background of certain individuals involved in this shady organization. It is quite complex. We are making progress though. You are just one of many who are desperately trying to get money refunded for services not provided. I am hoping to soon post a step-by-step approach to getting results through credit card companies who may have been used to charge fees. I see many posts asking how to take steps, but no one really seems to reply with helpful instruction. Also, since possibly the majority of individuals targeted by TCT are quite young, they haven't got the first clue as to how to go about getting their money back. I'm waiting on some details and will post this info as soon as I receive them. Those of us who continue to return to this site are well aware that TCT employees and management come here to see what we post. Another young lady here mentioned they all get a laugh out of us, tell their employees we are just a disgruntled handful who couldn't make the cut, or aren't of TCT quality. Myself, I've been on this planet for a half a century. I've already retired from nearly 28 years w/ a major telecommunications company and I have a BSIS degree. I can tell by your writing style, you are also well educated. My point is, I'm not some naive little teenager who is easily taken in by stories of fame and fortune. I was looking to start a second career, when I came across the Monster.com ad. It sounded like fun. When I started asking a lot of questions at my office, I was basically accused of prejudice and asked not to return. Fine and dandy, as I had already made up my mind I would not go back to such a place. Here are some of the questions I asked: Why are no background checks done on the new Model Scouts? (For all they know, we could have criminal histories) Why, when it specifically states in the training manual we are not to write our personal email addresses on the back of our business cards, does the company tell us to do so? My Model Scout Instructor told me, management was well aware of what the manual states. However, they felt it was perfectly acceptable to include our email addresses. Why were we not informed that we ran the risk of getting arrested for soliciting at various malls and business establishments? Again, I got an indirect answer. My Model Scout Instructor said she goes to Security and tells them what she is doing. According to her, they never have a problem w/ it. Of course, we never were advised to do so while in our extensive (sarcastic) training course. We were just tossed out there. So that's that. I need to post less here for a while, as I don't want to overwhelm those who run this website w/ 'chat-like' posts. They are kept extremely busy w/ an abundance of important issues. I do try to support those who appear to be at their wit's end. I don't like them to feel alone out there. Which reminds me, I'm going to plead temporary insanity for my last post. I'm stepping off of my podium. My best to you. BTW--I'll be surprised if you hear from Jackie directly. Usually, once confronted, these people just lurk. They don't have a lot upstairs. Oops! There I go again. I think I need a class in 'Ichiye 101'.

Hi Robin and the Ripoff Report Staff, I can't thank you enough for your support regarding Jackie's shocking reply. Have you dealt with this company personally or had their employees/associates threaten other people posting on your site? If you have yet to do so, or if you are contacted by any of their scouts or scouts associated with their other companies, my personal suggestion is that you think once, twice and ...oh...maybe 100 times before signing/dealing with them. The ridiculously circuitous trail they lead you around when you are trying to pursue anything dealing with finances is outrageous. I certainly hope their talent/models haven't had such extreme responses/experiences! However, my experience has led me to believe that responses such as those so artfully illustrated by Jackie are probably, unfortunately, not uncommon. Robin, have you read the other Ripoff Reports regarding this business? Their tenor suggests that I am not the only person to have dealt with employees that respond to clients (of all people to deal with in such an offensive way!) in a manner similar to Jackie's. Sad, don't you agree? Truly, I can not thank you enough for your support; I feel as though I have been dealing with this debacle alone all these months. Reading the other reports has certainly helped, but your responses really (and I do mean this sincerely, as corny as it sounds) made my day. After reading Jackie's response, I frantically re-read my first posting wondering if I had, in fact, said something to legitimately set her off. I could find nothing, but...I wrote it! And everyone knows that it's difficult to edit your own written materials past a certain point, hence the need for editors in this world! In any case, reading your response helped strengthen my resolve to continue to pursue this until I DO receive my money back. Not only that, I now (whereas before I would have been happy with the money and any back-owed interest earnings) also want a complete explanation as to WHY it took so long to receive it (because I WILL receive it, even if I have to seek legal action!) The threats and innuendoes in Jackie's short, but, erm..."sweet"...reply did lead me to conclude that she was probably very young. At the very least, she is probably inexperienced when it comes to business matters because her response was anything but professional and objective. Though I was shocked that she elected to reply in such a manner via a public forum, I was not surprised to find this escalating to such ridiculous heights. Pretty sad, eh? So, anyone else out there...support? Advice? Ideas? Again, Robin...you've really helped strengthen my resolve and helped me see through the "red haze" that temporarily blinded me after reading that rebuttal! I can only imagine how desperate a company must be to in order to have their employees reduced to such disappointing depths of (mis)conduct. I hope you have an amazing New Year Robin and the Ripoff Staff, and if you ever need any support...well, you know...you scratched my back and I'll scratch yours! But I definitely hope you never have to deal with something like this in order to collect on the debt of gratitude I owe you!! I am very, very curious as to what the next response will be....

THREAT From TCT Employee Strengthens My Case!

#7Consumer Comment

Sun, January 05, 2003

Dear Jackie, I am so sorry to have obviously offended you and TCT in some way, shape or form with a simple report of the facts concerning my case. I did not engage in any form of slander, abuse or threaten anyone in my report; however, you have elected to take one of the most shocking and disappointing avenues to date with regard to this issue and I am very curious as to why you would do such a thing when every other TCT employee with whom I have dealt has been, if not helpful, at least polite. You have threatened me personally. Now you, personally, in addition to TCT are involved in this ridiculous matter. It bewilders me as to why you would do this at all if you had just taken a moment to re-read what I'd written, counted to ten (because as an employee I understand that you may have been angry) and then just written a short, objective reply. Why did you feel the need to tell me to stay out of other people's " "personal business" or else"? This is turning into some kind of B-grade movie! How would YOU feel if you received an email or any sort of communication thath contained just that single phrase, let alone the rest of your anger-filled reply? Probably as shocked and as angry as I felt! Just what does this "information" you hold on me entail besides my credit card number and phone number? Do you and your company realize that if this continues much longer (and I'll let your legal staff fill you in regarding the actual length of time) that I may have grounds for filing suit for credit card fraud? Did you know that such a charge carries a fine, is a criminal, not civil, charge? Did you know it is something that will forever be associated with the company should the judgement be in my favor (and I guarantee that it will if I gather enough evidence to pursue this avenue and if the appropriate amount of time elapses) even after the statute of limitations has passed on the judgement? Even if you, personally, do not know this, does your legal department? They should. Does your legal department know you threatened me? They should. I have also reported your company to the Florida State Attorney's liason in Orlando. Your reponse will now be forwarded to them as well. Before becoming involved with something like this (TCT and their business difficulties) it would behoove you to determine at what level you should be involved with it at all. Unless you are associated with the accounting department or the legal department, then I suggest that you trust YOUR heart AND your head...my report was not some bile-filled, subjective, sounding-off from a disgruntled model. I am a professional; I am certainly upset, but I am also extremely serious about pursuing this. Does your company know that you threatened me in a public forum? If it does, then that's even more disappointing (to say the least) as far as TCT's reputation. If they do not, then it is also disappointing that they have elected to employ someone that uses tactics such as those you have just displayed to represent their company. I would love to respond to your post in kind; in fact it has taken great restraint to be as polite and objective as I am being as I write this. Please, when you read this, count to ten, write your response then sleep on it...whatever it takes before writing a response similar to the one above. If you do not pause before writing such things, I guarantee that it will not help my situation, or yours, in any way. I will not help period. End of story. If, however, you do take a moment to try and understand the other person's point of view, then perhaps you, too, will gain additional perspective that will help you write a constructive, objective reply. It may even lead you to decide to not reply at all. It's nice to know passionate, dedicated employees such as yourself exist out there. I certainly hope that if anything does happen to TCT regarding the Better Business Bureau, the State's Attorney, or even via this forum (as they are victims' advocates) that you use your passion for your next employer in a more constructive manner. I also hope that your experiences with TCT are ones that will help you learn and grow throughout your career, whatever it may be. Though anger does play into my emotions as I review your short, but certainly pointed response, what I feel most for you is pity. Good luck to you, I hope any future postings from you are a bit more....thoughtful.

#8UPDATE EX-employee responds

Sun, January 05, 2003

How dare you threaten this individual! Just who do you think you are??? She NEVER said anything that was a personal invasion, so where do you get off? "You'll get your money (question mark???)". Just what are you trying to say? "Trust your heart, not your mind". Why in the heck would anyone NOT trust their mind?--except maybe you. You are a birdbrain. How old are you anyway? You sound like a child. Your sentence structure sucks too. Go back to school. This poor person paid some hard earned dollars for a service that was NOT provided. She has every right to want compensation. She took appropriate action trying to rectify an injustice and you have the nerve to come here with your threatening pressure tactics and make false accusations. Since you want to spout off, tell me this--Does this Matthews person really exist? I think not. We know why this individual doesn't receive phone calls, don't we? She is a fictitious person--right??? I'd suggest you take a hike. Your kind disgust me. Can anyone tell I've had it up to you-know-where w/ these people??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
