Complaint Review: Transcription Express Incorporated - Gilbert Arizona

I've been with Transcription Express a little over a year. Originally what happened was I was laid off like so many others, after 15 years of working at the same company so I decided to go to school and learn something new. Being a disabled veteran I was able to do so through the VA. I learned medical billing/coding/transcription but decided I liked the transcription best.

When school was completed and I met with my vocational rehab counselor we researched together and saw that Transcription Express was possibly hiring. I emailed them and when the next search for new transcribers came up (which didn't take very long) I called and went in to find out what it was all about. I was a little disappointed because they didn't do medical transcription but I decided to stay and see what it was about anyway. I know this sounds stupid but I just got a good feeling about them.

They didn't hide anything or pretend it was anything other than what it was. As the day went on some people left because I suppose it wasn't what they were looking for. If anyone had any doubts or gripes about the fee for the software, that would've been the time to leave or ask more questions.

All I can say is no, you aren't going to get rich doing this but the good, at least for me, far outweighs the bad. I LOVE working from home. Sometimes the audio is just awful and it's tedious and then sometimes it just flies by and then there's those moments where you just can't beleive what people will say even though they know they are being recorded. Those are my favorite moments because I sit in my office just cracking up.

So I guess all I'm saying is if you're thinking about working with them make your appointment when they are hiring and listen to what they have to say and ask ALOT of questions. It may or may not be for you. For me it just fit. I just wanted to share my experience.

I have been associated with TEI for over 10 years.  They are an upstanding company that requires superior work from their subcontractors due to contract obligations they must adhere to.  

I've been a subcontractor for Transcription Express for 10 years and making a very good living, upwards of $15 an hour, if not more, as well as being able to make my own schedule on any given day.  Sure we all get crappy audios once in awhile and have bad days but the good far outweighs the bad.  You couldn't pay me to go back into the 'corporate world'.  The biggest issue I see with this particular complaint is the 'three month' thing.  It certainly takes longer than three months to get up to speed as well as figure out your schedule needs.  That seems to be the biggest 'turnover' issue, people think they're going to sign on and immediately make big bucks, it's certainly not a get rich quick sort of thing.

I have worked as a self-employed contractor for TEI for over five years.  I love the fact that I make well over the $5.00 an hour mentioned and I can even work in my pajamas!  This disgruntled person is way off base.  One has the opportunity to make a nice living, work from home (no gas money invovled here) and even have the benefit of top notch office support to assist when needed.  I totally disagree with the assessment that the company is a ripoff.  I love working with TEI and have recommended  them to others.

I've been working as an independent contractor for TEI for close to a year now.  While there is an intial investment (due to the cost the company incurs for the licensing) and there is definately a learning curve, if you have decent typing skills you can certainly make more than $5.00 per hour! 

I am currently making more than twice that.  When you combine that with the savings of not having to pay for gas to drive to work and not having to purchase additional clothing for an office job I am earning even more. 

I truly appreciate the opportunity to work on my own schedule and make a decent income while being available to my family.  The owners of TEI are lovely people and I consider it a priviledge to be a contractor for the company. 

I've been a transcriptionist for Transcription Express for nearly five years on a contract basis. 

Not only is the person who wrote the review wrong, but in fact it appears there is a vendetta.  I make far more than what she stated but I do have audios that are money losers at times.  I also have ones that are great but overall it averages out.  This was truly the answer to my prayers and getting fast enough to make money was not simple, it took hard work and time.  Best be a hard worker on a number of fronts if staying at home is a priority.

I remember when I used to have to go to their office and pick up cassette tapes.  Now those were where quality was really a question and driving was not fun or particularly cost effective with gas prices staying up for so long.  The idea that there is a cost for the digital license, equipment, training and support seems reasonable because I so consistently get work AND I don't have to drive anymore.  For those of us who have been around for a long time, this digital work is great although a little more isolating than before (still great).

People do have accents and people do talk over each other but the training was excellent and I have support all day long.  Training was free unless you leave within 2-3 months and I still think that is the case.  There are over 125 transcriptionists and they've been around for over 15 years I think.

If you want something for nothing, lick envelopes because according to the signs on the freeways exits, you can make $2,000 a week doing that! 

Posts like this make work-at-home mothers appear lazy and childish.
