I purchased a dog from Karen in 2008 and another in 2011. The first has passed on at the very young age of 9 due to hemangiosarcoma, which researchers believe is largely genetic. Karen never mentioned to either of us that this was an issue within her lines, but I find it difficult to believe she was not aware of it, especially considering I received a message from a good friend of hers informing me of 2 other Traumh of dogs impacted by 2 separate genetic diseases (congenital heart disease and and an epileptic condition, respectively).
I was able to verify with the owner of the CHD dog, who confirmed that her 5 year old dog dropped dead of heart failure while playing with her son in the yard. However, I was not able to verify the issues with the seizure dog with the owner. Nonetheless, the dog I lost was the most amazing dog I've ever had and the second dog, though he is of weak character, is also an incredible dog whose loyalty and gentle nature are unmatched. Ultimately, though I think calling her lines "garbage" is overly harsh and not at all accurate, I personally wouldn't get another dog from her either.

TRAUMHOFGSD TRAUMHOF GSD, TRAUMHOFF Corrected information guilmet, new hampshsire
To All,
The website listed as "traumhofgsd" is listing incorrect information. I am the Ex Husband of the owner. We have not been together since 2010. Her address is now in a different location in NH no longer in Townsend, MA. The page on her website listed as "about us" is false and should be removed. She refused to take same down stating to a judge she "lost her password". However, all the other pages are continually updated. I have no connection or interest in this business or its owner. If you have any further questions concerning this feel free to contact myself.

Traumhof GSD is an extremely ethical breeder. The dogs don't live in a kennel.
They live in the house with the family. There isn't another breeder I know of that
does this. Karen Priest weeds out buyers that want an aggressive dog or other
unsavory features.
She sells West German Show & Herding dogs of the highest quality.
They have won top awards in USA & Germany
She is very selective to whom she sells & provides lifelong support.
Whoever wrote this complaint isn't telling the truth.
I reseached breeders for months before making my selection.
You won't go wrong with this breeder.
Sincerely,
cathy nelson

I am a consumer of Traumhof GSD. I bought one of their puppies two years ago and he had had no health problems to date. I have stayed in communication with Karen Priest and she has been an incredible vault of knowledge and help FREE OF CHARGE! She has always gone way beyond the line of breeder in helping me with my dog. This is ludicrous that someone can freely make such a claim with out any evidence at all! Provide your evidence (name of animal control officer, litter names of the dogs, your VET's name to corroborate claim. Otherwise you are open to a lawsuit in the USA.

I believe this is a disgrutal person that was rejected from Karen's extensive screening process for a potential puppy/dog.
He/she has not provided and identification on the three dogs. AKC Registration #s on all three, Tatoo #s, Litter letters. Where's the proof you actually own these dogs!
What are the bloodlines? Do you even know?
I have the utmost respect for Karen, her husband, and her dogs. She is very well educated in her breeding and training program. I have the privilege of owning one of her puppies. I have been in constant contact with her for advise and training since the day we met. She has always helped me out.
I am also in contact with previous owners of her dogs/puppies, which i have yet to hear of any complaints.
This is a bogus report!
From a very satisfied client/friend/consumer
Jo!

I am the PROUD owner of an AMAZING GSD that I purchased from Karen. Anyone who has done business with her knows just how much she loves her dogs and how well she cares for them. They are not "breeding stock" to her, they are her family. There is NOTHING on her property that would suggest the dogs are anything but healthy. We did THOROUGH research prior to doing business with her and did not find ANY of the alleged claims regarding the animal control officer in Townsend. Her animals have WONDERFUL temperaments: it was an incredible experience to be sitting in her living room, with no fewer than 9 beautifully behaved GSDs. She has been tremendously helpful and supportive, ready to answer any questions we have about our puppy's health and behavior. I have read that it is not your policy to remove posts, but I certainly hope that anyone reading will recognize that the original report just couldn't be more false.

I have a dog that is almost three years old that we purchased from Karen's kennel. She is a VERY healthy dog and we have never had any health problems. Karen cares very much for her dogs, while they are with her, and after they go to their new homes. Even after three years if I email Karen with a question she is quick to respond and offer suggestions. She insist on meeting anyone who purchases one of her dogs, so I have also visited her home (and kennel). Her kennel is actually her home with acres of land in a beautiful setting. The dogs she has are part of her family, and to suggest that she she does not care for them is absurd!

First, as far as I know, EMI is a technique to detect the ancestry of disease genes in human populations, not an actual disease itself. If someone know otherwise, feel free to educate me.
Secondly, there is no such town as "Townsends" and "Traumhof" is spelled incorrectly. However, you can surely contact Townsend's animal control officer and you will determine that the information posted above is entirely false.
Finally, and most importantly, I have a GSD from Karen Priest and she is the most phenomenal dog I have ever owned. Her temperament is superb and her health is excellent as well. My veterinarian will attest to both.
I suspect the complaint is by someone that Karen refused to sell a dog to. Karen cares very much for her dogs and has strict guidelines regarding their placement. She insists on meeting buyers in person and does an extensive interview and reference checks. I find this to be an admirable and necessary process and a sign of an excellent breeder, but some unscrupulous individuals don't approve of the process.
This site is intended for the posting of legitimate complaints in order to inform the public of improper business practices. It is not the place for someone to create a false and libelous report to fulfill some personal vendetta. I would highly recommend that Karen obtain the complainant's personal information by subpoena from Ripoffreport.com as the information contained therein is blatantly defamatory and subject to legal action.

First, I have never sold a dog to "Frank" In RI.
Second, I have only sold three puppies to one client ever. That client was happy enough to come back to me three times! Her dogs are all healthy and happy and get along great. This person claims I sold him three puppies form three litters. I'd like to see copies of the contracts I signed, with each dog I sold him, and proof of who these dogs are.
Third; I have never heard of EMI disease. None of my dogs has ever been diagnosed with this to my knowledge. My vet is Slade Vet Clinic, and they can attest to the good care and general health of my animals.
Fourth; Our town animal control officer has NEVER had a problem with my dogs, their health, or their care. I know our AC officer, I live in a small town, and we have a cordial relationship.
The person who authored this claim has not substantiated any of his wild accusations. Every dog I have sold has a tattoo, a registration number, papers, and a given kennel name, irregardless of what the owner calls the dog as a call name. I would like this person to provide photos here, of the AKC papers for the supposed dogs I sold him. Further, I'd like to see vet records for the named, tattooed dogs, showing they are ill or are in monthly fo fighting. I know that these thigns do not exist because none of these claims are true.
Since the person claims I do not care that his dogs are "At the vet every month for fighting", I'd like for him to post our correspondence where I gave the impression I didn't care.

The above claim was brought to my attention by a friend. This is a bogus claim. First, I have only one client who has three dogs I have bred. That client is happy with her dogs, they all get along, and they have not had health problems.
2nd, this person who filed this "claim' has also signed on to chat boards under MY KENNEL NAME, except, spelled incorrectly, as traumhoff. This individual is perpetuating faslehoods there, too.
3d, I know our town animal control officer. She has never had to come here on a complaint. My dogs are all healthy. We use Slade Veterinary Clinic, and they can attest to the fact that I have never brought a dog in with anything termed EMI..I don't even know what that IS!
Lastly, If there was a problem in dogs I bred, I expect the owner would contact me to discuss it. This is the very first I have hear dof this. I would like to know who the person is who filed this report, and to see proof of the claims they are making.. vet reports for DOGS I BRED that are sick or fighting. this is slander, pure and simple.
