Travel Union Deceptive practices; travel voucher Scottsdale Arizona
When you open the mailing you are immediately presented with an authentic looking check that is payable to: American TAD on behalf of (my name). The mailing goes on to explain that the mailing consists of a Travel Check Voucher that can be redeemed for a certificate for 2 round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental US from any major internation airport. Certain restrictions apply. Vacation Getaways and Cruises are available for a limited time.
The voucher goes on to say that: We have attempted contacting you on several occasions. This will be your last chance to respond. Furthermore it states: Note that this check voucher must be redeemed by August 16th, 2013. If you do not claim your award, it will be transferred to an alternate. This is a limited time offer and may be withdrawn at any time. Flights fill quickly. The amount of the voucher is 1,198.00
I am concerned about the scuddlebut sorrounding this voucher program and how people may be decieved into thinking they are getting something for nothing. There is no doubt that the truth of the voucher program involves some unanncounced costs...hotels, taxes, and other fees that in the end will drawf any so called free airfare. I am concerned that people will make a call about their free tickets and get involved in something that they will pay dearly for in the end...esp if they give out SSI numbers, or account information.
This kind of unsolicited scam offers are malicious and cruel.
