Sometime before Christmas, I received an email about a diet patch. I filled out a form to receive more information and left my cell phone number as the contact number.

Yesterday, 1-3-03 Friday, I received a phone call, with caller ID as unavailable. The man on the phone stated that his name was MIKE from Lipoderm...selling a weight loss patch. I wrote his name and company down, not paying any attention at first.

The product he wanted to sell me was for the weight loss patch called Lipoderm. You know the story from the other reports...a 90 day supply is $199.95. Money back Guarantee...blah blah blah. OR you can opt for the $19.90 25 day trial, and send it back on the 25th day.

I was an idiot and gave my Mastercard number over the phone to him, but after talking with him for a few minutes later, I had a bad feeling about this...so I explained to him that I didn't want to do this at this time and told him that I would want to talk to my doctor/fitness trainer and research this product more-He sort of snickered (I thought this was strange)-I asked him for his number-which he gave me the 800 #. I asked him if there was a website...he said it was currently under construction. I asked him when I call should I ask for him, and he said yes..not remembering his name or looking at my notes I was taking, I asked him what his name was, he paused and said, JOHN--Then we hung up. I then realized at first he said his name was Mike. So I started to panic.

I called my bank...they said that the transaction had already been ran through. (Must be why he snickered) I explained to my bank that this transaction should have not gone through. They told me that I could dispute it, and that they would investigate it. I was fine with that, but still not comfortable.

I decided that this was not good enough. I called the 800 number and had no luck getting through, but received the web address off the recording from the 800 number. The web address did NO GOOD. So I did a search on Treehouse Marketing and this was the VERY FIRST web site that came up--Then I really began to panic. OH NO WHAT DID I JUST GET MYSELF INTO HERE???

I kept calling and finally got through to a customer service rep named Sarah. I explained everything to her as I just did above. She put me on hold, and then came back. She said that she and her manager listened to the tape--they don't know why Mike said that his name was John at the end and that they would talk to him about that. (Yeah, right!) And then Sarah said that Mike talked to the Supervisor/Manager/Boss guy named Dwight, and that after my conversation with Mike, he went to Dwight and told him that I wanted to cancel, but Mike according to Sarah told Dwight that he told me that I could not cancel.

Ummm, Mike/John whatever his REAL name is NEVER EVER ONCE told me that I could not cancel. I told Sarah this and she said, well let me put you on hold, I am going to go back and listen to the tape with my manager again. The tape ran out right at the end of you and Mike talking. (Isn't that conveinent!)

Sarah came back on the line and said that she was going to cancel the order, and that she and her manager were going back to the shipping dept, and removing it from the computers and that I would receive a check in the amount of $19.90 from Treehouse. She assured me that this order was in fact going to be cancelled.

Since reading all of these claims of fraud and unauthorized transactions on this website. I called my bank back and explained the situation from start to finish all over again. My bank advised me to shut down my credit card, and report it as lost/stolen. This is to protect me in case they TRY to take out $199.95. My credit card is also sending me papers just in case Treehouse doesn't send me a refund check for $19.90 I can have my credit card reimburse me for the amount and they will investigate it as fraud.

I don't know if I have actually been ripped off yet or not. I know had I not cancelled I just might have been out of even more money. I am hoping that Treehouse actually does send me a check, but I am not holding my breath. I am glad that I found this website when I did and I am glad that I listened to my inner instinct. I am glad it's only $20 and not $200. This has definately taught me a lesson. I will NEVER again give out information over the internet or phone.

Wake up, Clarissa! ..Treehouse Marketing is maybe also scamming their employees by "fining" them if they don't do something right.

Your message was very sweet and thoughtful, Clarissa, but all it does is show me that Treehouse Marketing is maybe also scamming their employees by "fining" them if they don't do something right. I WOULD admire that tactic, to keep employees accountable and on their toes, IF the company owners and managers also lived by those same standards. My problem is simple. I was lied to about the product ingredients and I returned the product unopened and unused after receiving it several weeks late of the expected ship date. Now I'm being told they can't/won't give me my refund because they don't EXACTLY know when it was shipped to me from overseas, so they WILL assume I sent it back late. HOW PERFECTLY CLEVER OF THEM! I don't know about anyone else, but there was NO dated invoice in my package and NO return address or shipping instructions. It was left up to me to figure it all out, but nothing I did has mattered to them. It doesn't matter that I called them a million times, at my own expense after tracking down their phone number, to keep them informed of what was going on. It doesn't matter that they ADMITTED AND APOLOGIZED that they were aware of the late shipment and would adjust the 30 day trial period for me. It doesn't matter that I've followed every direction they gave me for returning the product for a refund. It doesn't matter that I even faxed them back a copy of the return signature signed by the owner of the company AND a statement from my bank showing the date they debited my account. It doesn't matter that I've been promised a "check in the mail" several times, only to find they've come up with ANOTHER excuse. Nothing I do, including jumping through hoops, matters. All that matters is the SHIP DATE that no one can prove. NEVER MIND THE FACT that I was lied to about the product in the first place. NOTHING MATTERS but the ship date, and the overseas company supposedly won't give them this information. Could it be that the overseas company is ALSO being scammed by the company or is Treehouse Marketing ALSO lieing to me about this little excuse? Heck, I don't know! It's anyone's guess, but I think I will SCREAM if I read one more LAME EXCUSE from an owner or employee of this joke of a company pretending that they are honorable in their actions. I will be glad to let you all know if Treehouse Marketing/TMG...whatever the heck they're calling themselves this week...ever returns my money.

Darlene wake up youre asleep at the wheel this is the second post attacking me The information for treehouse marketing is all over these posts its no secret. did the part about driving by 740 N 530 east totally escape you? and you are definatly lashing out or should i say grasping at strings the issue here is Tree house marketing and the collection Practices of Rocky mountain collections wich one do you work for? Im going to type this real slow, so you can keep up. these posts are from people who feel, they are being lied to by Treehouse Marketing and feel they are being taken advantage of. The claims against Rocky Mountain Collections. State Threatning and abusive and rude practices by these people Towards an elderly woman i think you should be more concerned about that aspect. Turning over a bill to a collection agency that is in dispute is comon practice for companies, its just a modern strong arm tactic to get people to give up there rights to be treated fairly. As far as being a Jr Reporter go back to the Rip-off report home page and read Become a rip-off reporter. A reporters job is to gather facts and produce results I wanted contact from some one at Rocky mountain Collections I got it. They Have stated they are not a member of Treehouse Marketing Now the big Question After reading these reports will Rocky Mountain Collections continue to do buisness With Treehouse Marketing? Or have they sold there morals For the almighty Dollar. And in closing, being on the ball I think i just hit a home run! ..however youre comments prove you dont even know what game it is.

WELL, Tree House of course didn't send me a check like Sarah in customer service had promised me. Today I came home from work only to find a package from UPS waiting for me from Tree House. I guess Sarah and her manager Dwight never made it to the shipping department as she promised me that they would do. Sarah said that she was going directly to the shipping Department to cancel my order out of the computers before it was shipped. LIES all LIES!!! So I called Tree House right away. Only to get someone named 'Felicia' on the line, who wasn't any help at all, and basically gave me the run around. I told 'Felicia' that I would be ashamed if I were her. I told her how I don't know how she could work for a company that rips people off all the time. How she can sit there and lie to people. Anyways, she responded with, "Is there anything else that I can help you with?" I said, "YES, I want to speak to a manager!" She said, "Actually there is one right here, hold on a minute please." I was put on hold for quite some time at this point. I hung up and called back. 'Felicia' answered again. I said, "Felicia this is Amanda, I'm still waiting for that 'manager' to get back on the line!" She put me on hold for a few seconds, and 'Ester' who sounded a lot like 'Felicia' got on the line with me. 'Ester' explained to me that no managers were available at the time, but she would make sure that she took down all the necessary information. Anyways, I had to tell my story ALL over again. She said to send the pkg back with a tracking #. I said thank you, and informed her that our conversation had just been recorded. She responded with, "You are not allowed to do that without my permission!" I explained to her that I am doing this for MY PROTECTION and TOO BAD, what's done is done! If they are going to play dirty, I can play dirty too! I have a few tricks up my sleeve as well. If they try to run that same credit card # through again, WELL, they are going to just give theirselves another problem to deal with. Luckily I caught this before it got way out of hand. I will never EVER give my credit card information over the phone EVER again. I don't understand how these people are still in business. I've done all I can do as far as reporting them to the BBB, and putting a report here on this website. I have cancelled my credit card, and my credit card will be doing an investigation over the $19.90 that was originally credited. If you are reading this and just realize that you too have been scammed and have NOT YET received your Slim Patches, Smoking Patches, whatever the hell they are sending you, this is what you need to do: CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD! Report it as lost or stolen.
