These American scammers at Trout Point Lodge have filed at least 5 SLAPP suits in Nova Scotia against various media outlets that have reported on the link between the Lodge and a massive federal investigation in Louisiana involving some of the Lodge's investors. It is clear the owners of the Lodge, 3 gay men from Louisiana with a history of perverted behavior, have no tolerance for other viewpoints as illustrated by the silly no disclosure statement they make their guests sign.
Travelers from the US should be very wary of Trout Point Lodge due to the protensity of the owners to sue people expressing their opinions and news outlets doing legitiment reporting on the Lodge's connection to the scandal in New Orleans.

While Trout Point is happy to accept valid criticism and take remedial action, this complaint is not from a former guest but rather from a person who has been cyber-stalking, harassing, and defaming our business for 2 years. Nothing he says is true. We have judgment against him in Nova Scotia Supreme Court and a decision stating that his publications are prima facie defamatory.

Trout Point Lodge requires guests to agree not to post any opinions or photos of their stay on review sites such as Trip Advisor without the approval of the owners.
It also strongly appears the owners are writing thier own Trip Advisor reviews including some set in the dead of winter when the Lodge is in actuality closed.
The Lodge also charges an 18% gratuity, even on the cabins which do not receive daily services such as cleaning. This charge is buried in the fine print and not disclosed. From a review buried in Trip Advisor:
"an 18% service charge is added on to EVERY item on your bill.. yes, everything from your glass of wine before dinner to your accommodation! So, add 33% on to all room rates, dinner costs etc.. it adds up pretty quickly! We nearly died when we saw our bill and it took away from the whole experience."
From Storyworldwide CEO Kirk Cheyfitz who had a very bad experience with bad service:
"Since this post initially went up, I have gotten numerous emails, ranging from apologetic to threatening, from Charles Leary. He alleges bad behavior on my part. He also says the long-running lawsuit filed against Trout Point and him by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) has been settled. In addition, he says the man I talked to who was identified by his staff as Charles Leary was not, in fact, Charles Leary. But he will not produce the document showing the lawsuit was settled and he will not identify the man he claims I spoke to. Finally, he reaffirms his belief in his policy of attempting to own all his guests thoughts, observations and opinions about Trout Point."
