Turbo Trip.com, Ramada Inn & Suites Downtown Superdome New Orleans ripoff blood on mattress and floor no retribution made discount promised but never credited New Orleans Louisiana
The last weekend in April, 2001, my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I planned a trip to New Orleans to attend the annual Jazz and Heritage Festival (which was amazing by the way and highly recommended). This was to be a very special trip I found out later, my husband asked me to marry him while in NO.
We used and Internet company Turbotrip.com to find us a hotel room. They found us a room at the Ramada Inn which was Downtown near the Superdome. The price was quite high -- $200 a night. But we sucked it up and decided we were worth it.
We checked in to the room which was adequate and noticed a huge stain on the carpet and a few small ones. We just assumed, "hey, it's New Orleans, probably a spilled hurricane or something of that nature". So we settled in and slept soundly.
Well the next evening, I was pulling up the sheets on the bed getting ready to hop in and I noticed some stains on the mattress corner. After pulling up the sheet I was horrified when I found that the mattress pad and mattress were covered in blood. Guess what those stains on the floor were?
I could not believe that housekeeping did not take the time to have this properly cleaned and just let us sleep in this filthy room.
We called to the front desk and they had us moved and promised us $100 off of our first night. We were not happy with this and wanted our room free both nights. It was 3a.m. and too late to go looking for a new hotel, which was what we wanted to do.
After arriving home and seeing our credit card bill with no credit what so ever I called the hotel and they said that Turbo Trip would need to process the credit. After numerous (over 12) calls to Turbo Trip and after have spoken to many people in their management, we still have not received a penny of our money back.
I even reported this to our credit card co, but they stated the charge was made too long ago to fight. We would have contacted them sooner, but we kept being reassured by Turbo Trip that our credit would be coming. I took pictures in case the hotel management wanted to see this horrible room, but they seemed to care less.
In the end we stayed with some friends in Baton Rouge for the rest of our vacation and luckily the hotel did not completely ruin this special trip for us. We will never book a hotel through and online service again, and always check your mattress!!
