I purchased a 93 Ford Explorer, with nearly 100,000 miles in Nov 2001. Yes, I have problem credit due to divorce and other reasons beyond my control. I feel being a female they took total advantage of me. The purchase price of the Explorer was $9,998.00 plus an outrageous intrest rate, totaling over $13,000.00. This is not including the down payment of $800.00.

I have had nothing but problems with this Ford, and God forbid if my payment was 1 day late. I feel that I was taken total advantage of because I am a female, on my own and they knew it.

I would never ever recommend Ugly Duckling to anyone, and wish I had never purchased from them. Please be warned...

Everbody, especially Women, do not go there. If you have to go somewhere like this, there are plenty more around, and always check with the Better Business Buearu.

So, J, you agree with Lori that no one should deal with Drive Time. Yet you blame her for some bizarre reason. You agree if anyone goes to a subprime dealer because of bad credit, they'll get a crappy, overpriced car that they'd be better off without. Exactly what happened to Lori. So you agree that in a perfect world, where everyone has "common sense", Drive Time and similar dealers wouldn't exist because their only purpose is to rip people off, and everyone knows that. That's the whole purpose of this website.

some people don't like to own up to their own misfortune

It really bothers me when people blame their misfortunes in life on other people. Take this lady for example, she is saying that Drive Time took advantage of her because she is female. No sweetie.... they took advantage of you because you have no common sense! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Drive Time has crappy overpriced USED cars, just like every other dealership out there. That is why you don't buy a USED vehicle, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with your credit. Take me for example, I by no means have 5 star credit, in fact there are a few negative things weighing on my report from my younger days, but I was able to get financed for a BRAND NEW $25,000 car with only 7% interest from my credit union. So if I can do it, so can anyone else out there who is complaining about their 2nd hand car. Now on to Drive Time AKA Ugly Duckling. My opinion is you are damned if you do, you are damned if you don't. You weren't complaining when you purchased your vehicle now were you? You did agree to the terms and sign the contract...right??? Please tell me that you TEST DROVE your vehicle before you gave them your $800.00 down payment!?!??!Oh, and being female with all the news coverage thats is aired about females and dealerships / mechanics. .... please tell me that you had the vehicle completely inspected and tested before you bought it. :)) So you see, you were not taken advantage of. You were the bonehead that made the decision to buy a vehicle from them, so deal with it! Or next time get a BRAND NEW vehicle so you will have no need for complaining.
