i had an arrangement with uac finance. they called me thursday 013108 to verify the arrangemnt told them nothing has changed and the arrangement still was as scheduled. my boyfriend had a vehicle with uac that they took and i needed my things. they agreed to meet me in apple valley to let me retrieve my things for a 40.00 fee. My son and me went to apple valley mn from south saint paul at home depot. A woman aproached my car with a list i went over the list and she asked me to check my things in the back of her truck. I walked to the back of the truck and a man jumped out of a truck and said "Hey, your car is overheating" but my car wasnt turned on and he jumped in the car with my child who is 21 months old and drove off i said wait my child is in the car then he finally stopped. My child was screaming and crying. I called UAC and they said they didnt have a valid address for me thats why they lured me to apple valley. I advised UAC that I live in the same apt for over a year now. I got my car back the very next day. when the returned my things they were ruined. i had 3 expensive shirts and they had de icer all over them. I had a pair of 125.00 shoes missing. A crock pot that was also missing. they threw my things in a bag with trash. i have lost my appetite and have nightmares about someone taking my car with my son in it

The cutomer had an appt. in Apple Valley to pick up her property. We've already repossed another car in her name a month prior to this. I pulled up behind the customer and asked her to look at her list of property to make sure everthing was there, she said everything was there, sign for her property and proceeded to my vehicle to pick up her stuff. Our tow truck driver pulled up in from of her car and the other employee removed the keys from her car to avoid the customer from leaving. At this time she jumped in her car. locked the doors and started screaming and yelling at us causing her child to cry. At no time did we jump in her car and drive off, it would have been impossible with a tow truck in front of her vehicle and another vehicle behind her car and with a child in the vehicle if we drove off, we would have been arrested, and charged with criminal charges. We have procedures to follow, and towing or driving off in a vehicle with a child inside would be illegal and something we don't do. We had to call the police to have the customer removed from the car. I told the cutomer I would hold her property until she had arranged a ride to pick it up, I also did not charge her for any storage of property in this vehicle. We offer the customer a ride, which she refused from us and had the police take her to another location. She made arrangement to pick up her car the next day, which we put $25.00 in gas since she was on empty in order for her to make it home and we also did not charage her any storage for her vehicle or property as we normally do, a cost of $90.00 that we did not charge her. She called me the next day stating her clothes were covered with washer fluid, the cap must not have been tight and her clothes were ruin. I told her to wash her clothes and they will be fine. Washer fluid is made up of water and methanol a substance that is use in clothes for premanent press and also makes the clothes last longer, it will not ruin any fabric. Her car was already full of fast food bags, and garbage all over the floor and seats, this fluid could have already been on her clothes prior to us cleaning out her vehicle. Our calls are recorded and in checking the phone conversation, there is no mention of missing $125.00 shoes.
