I Got The Offer Too--Let's look closer and use common sense

#2Consumer Suggestion

I got the offer others here have mentioned--about a $10,000 credit limit. I did a Google search which brought me here. Here's the thing. The "owner" of the company who posted a response here is correct in saying the offer does not say it's a credit card. After going to the web site and reading information it reminded me of those offers you get from the local Kiwanis Club or whatever civic organization that offers those coupon books that can save you all kinds of money if you pay $24.99 for them. They have coupons for restaurants, shoes, bowling, tanning, ice cream--you name it! Well, this offer gives you a $10,000 limit! That's just a limit. Doesn't mean they're gonna have $10,000 worth of stuff to buy! Read carefully, it NEVER says it's a credit card, and the web site doesn't either. The bottom line to me is, if a complete stranger walks up to you ON THE STREET and offers you something like this, most people would never do it. But that doesn't mean it's illegal! So if you get the same offer in the mail...well, put 2 and 2 together. Is it a rip off? Well, it's certainly deceptive--when I read the offer I got in the mail I figured it was a credit card--it's obviously worded to look like a credit card offer. But it doesn't exactly SAY it's a credit card. To me the fact that it said "Bank Affiliation: None"--along with some oddly worded sentences was enough to tell me it smelled bad. Just use common sense on this one. And nothing about it makes GOOD sense to me.

Our offer is not presented as a credit card opportunity.

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, May 27, 2005

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your concerns with our company. We like to hear from consumers whether it is positive or negative feedback. Our members appreciate the value we provide them. Of course, like any offer, our services are not right for everyone. Our offer is not presented as a credit card opportunity. In fact, we never even mention the word "credit card" in our offer. The feedback we receive from our members routinely demonstrates that they understand the nature of our offer and do not believe they will receive a credit card from us. We offer a no questions asked 60-day refund guarantee on membership fees and routinely go well beyond the 60 day refund period in the event a member requests a refund. Additionally, our offer does not ask for nor require you to provide any banking information. We would like to point out that our web-site, www.unionworkerscredit.com, is listed on every offer we send out. Our web-site details every aspect of our program and features a convenient Contact Us section which lists our address, phone and fax numbers and email address. We put our web-site address on every offer so consumers can learn as much as possible about us before they decide to become a member. We hope this information has been helpful. Please contact us directly if we can provide any additional information to address your concerns.
