I had a contract with United Financial but the very first payments were not paid on time and I was forced to deal with my creditors myself. Only one creditor was left for United to pay.

After I paid off the last creditor in February I started trying to contact United to ask about receiving my commitment fee but could not get a return call or answer to any of my e-mails.

I finally got in touch with someone in March. I received a document from United to sign and return by fax stating that I would receive my $193.00 fee.

After 6 weeks I called to check on the status and was told even though my fax was received on March 26, 2004, due to the fact that the person I faxed it to no longer worked there, it was not processed until April 6, 2004. I was informed it would be 4 to 6 weeks from that date to process and my refund would deposited in my bank account.

Today is May 18, 2004 and it has been 6 weeks. I received a call from United to inform me I would not be receiving my refund because it was not researched properly.

They are saying that I broke our contract because I paid the finaly $70.00 balance myself even though they did not fulfill their end of the contract by paying my creditors by the date that was agreed on. However, my bank account was debited for their fee each month on the correct date.

I turned to this company to help me straighten out the mess my finances were in after a divorce and instead I was placed in an even worse standing with my creditors.

Dear Employee of UFS,

Thanks for responding to Susan's report. I am dealing with UFS in a situation that almost mirrors hers.

The rebuttal about the intial payment being a set-up fee is BS! UFS does not disclouse it as a set up fee anywhere in their contract. I know. I read the entire piece of s**t from the first letter on the first page to the last. I didn't like how they held the first payment for a "cash back reward," but I had no doubt I could successfully complete the program.

As I suspected I had not problem holding up my end of the contract. UFS had a millions problems holding up theirs. That is the reason I withdrew from the company. So yes I feel I have every right to get my intial payment back. If I had failed to pay UFS I would not even ask for my money back. Additionally, I was directly told that I would receive it back and have yet to do so. So now, tell me who is in the wrong. We, myself, Susan and other wronged consumers, have signed paper worked, spoken to managers and been directlly promised a refund of the intial payment and yet we get nothing from this company. In all other parts of our moral system lying is not honorable. Thus, UFS needs to take on some business ethics class and uphold their portions of the agreement and they won't have people writting so many ripoff reports.

Keep Fighting for your money Susan. Employee, I suggest you look for a new job. You are being brainwashed into stealling honest people's money.

Yours in the battle for what is right and ethical,

Former client of UFS

I am a consumer and had the misfortune of dealing with united financial systems. They have withdrawn money from my account on the 15th of this month and not paid any of the creditors that they agreed to pay. They have paid for the past several months but stopped this month. Calls to them at three different phone numbers listed for them, including the one given on their web site, yielded no answer. They have litterally stolen the money from my account and not honored their agreement. A phone call to one of my creditors backed up my complaint as they had tried to contact ufs yesterday for one of their other customers and had tried to reach them for an explanation as to why her payments had not been made. These attempts had lasted for 45 minutes before a person was actually reached at ufs and then she just got a run-a-round.

I happened upon this site and found a report against the company I work for. I would like to say that I am quite surprised that there was any negative report but was curios enough to check. In regard to the report submitted by Susan, each client is given a full contract which states the first payment is held as an initial set up fee. The fee is not refundable but will be given back as a "cash back award" at the end of the program by successfully completing. The terms of successful completion is clearly spelled out in the contract stating all payments must be made through our company. A client is not required to complete the program within a specific number of months and can complete early. We also provide the payoff information for clients so they can complete their program correctly and not lose that or any portion of that money. We readily advise all clients of the reprecussions of paying on their own. This particular client could have avoided this entire situation by reading her contract or discussing with our customer service representatives what may happen if she were to payoff an account on her own. In regard to the time to process the refund, refunds are processed in the order they are received and generally do take between 6-8 weeks to be issued. Of course I am sorry to hear that someone was not satisfied with our service but this is certainly a situation which could have been easily prevented. I hope this rebuttal is considered by any individiual who is considering our company or is currently using our services and comes upon this site as I did.
