United Road was hired to ship my vehicle here to Alaska. My vehicle arrived with a cracked windshield and they are saying that this crack is not the result of the transport. They are refusing to replace the windshield, after photos were sent and all the required paperwork was filed.

All I want is the windshield repaired.

Alias, I don't believe you were an employee of the company but was an owner operator. If you can tell me what sister company you wer under I would be able to tell you exactly who you are. There has never been an employee who paid for a broken windshield. How do I know. Because I was in charge of the Safety Dept. for MPG Transport, which is a sister company. If anyone would contact the company about a broken window I would tell them that this was an act of God.

"Great Company" I do not believe so, they stuck me (a driver) in Salt lake city for 3 weeks, then never paid me when I finally quit! "Common sense" Hardly, I have hauled cars for well over 1.5 million miles and have paid for a lot of windshields. If the broken windshield was not noted in the pre-trip vehicle inspection filled out by the driver, then someone needs to buy you a new windshield, and it wont be URS, it will be the driver who pays! ~who is to say a chain didn't loosen up and drop on the windshield and break it~ If someone did not haul the car and drove the car to AK for you, they would still be liable for damages because the vehicle does not belong to them! If you are driving your car and a rock breaks the windshield THEN YOU are liable, lol.

I cannot believe that you are requesting them to pay for your windshield. There is not a auto shipper on this planet that will pay for that UNLESS you shipped your vehicle in a enclosed carrier. If you were to drive your vehicle there there is a big possibility that you would get a crack or rockchip on your vehicle. Think about it! That is called normal wear and tear from in surface travel on a open car hauler...

United Road is an excellent company and normally takes responsibility for any damage done on vehicles. What you may want to do is contact the corporate office in Romulus, MI. That number is 800-221-5127 and speak with someone in the Safety Department. Explain to them your gripe with the company and you can e-mail your pictures to Charles Baxter who is the President of the Safety Department at [email protected]. Please respond and let me know how things work out.
