I just got finished reporting another suspicious company on another website and I decided to Google this company one last time and see if I could drum up any information on it. This happened to me last summer (summer of 2007 about June-ish or so) so I am long overdue for my complaint.

Anyway, these two overly enthusiastic young men come over and said they were with a company called Universal Subcscription Agency based out of Las Vegas, NV. They were selling magazine subscriptions, and the top 20 sellers or so got to go on a trip to Cancun. Each magazine was supposedly worth a certain number of points, so obviously, they talked me into buying multiple subscriptions (either that or magazines that were worth a substanstial amount of points). Being the overly nice person that I am, wanting to help them out on their trip and wanting to get some stimulating reading material for my family, I ordered 3 or 4 subscriptions: Maxim magazine for my husband, Jack and Jill for my daughter, and two magazines for me (one was U.S. News and World Report, I can't recall the other one at the moment). The total for my order come to about $200!!! I asked about payment plans and they said that they needed the money upfront to process the order and that it could take a few months to process the order, like up to 3-6 mos., and that the latest I would received my magazines was September. Maybe this should have sent off a red-flag, but it didn't--I WAS TAKEN FOR A SUCKER!!! I was going to pay with a check or debit card, but now I'm kind of glad that I didn't because they would have had all my personal account information. The two gentlemen told me that they'd receive extra points--I think like 500 or so--if I paid in CASH, so I did, all $200 of it. They wrote me out a receipt and said that if I changed my mind, I had three days to cancel the order. After talking things over with my husband and a friend of mine, I agreed that $200 is a bit pricey for magazines so I attempted several times to get ahold of the company to get my money back. I called them at least 3-4 times and left a message each time, I e-mailed them, I even sent out a letter--NOTHING, and I DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE ANY MAGAZINES!!! I tried to GOOGLE their website and they do have one, but it looks totally fake and set up. This complaint was well overdue and I should have written it right away. My advice to the public: BEWARE OF SCAMS, THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!
