"All I read about is how much homework they had to do and how much the school costs and how the receptionist wasn't paying attention to them." You apparently didn't read the report you were responding to, then, because it had nothing to do with any of those things. Try actually reading some of these complaints rather than deciding what they are about without reading them. Many UoP complaints are in the classes that you stated, but many are not. Besides, why is a complaint about the tuition rate, which rivals that of Ivy League schools, not valid? Isn't overpricing a definitive ripoff? Hope your education has gone as well as you state, but it hasn't gone that well for everybody else, and it's not always their own fault.

All the people complainig about UOP need to stop and look at themselves. All I read about is how much homework they had to do and how much the school costs and how the receptionist wasn't paying attention to them. Have you been to a State school? I have been a student in UOP for almost 3 years and graduating next month, so I am giving my opinion based on experience of 26 classes, not one or two, like some other people. I went online and on campus, including FlexNet (what, FlexNet, what there is another option?!!) I have to tell you that you CAN finish your degree in 2 1/2 years, if you don't take 29 days break between each class ( like this one guy), get there on time, do your homework, and pass your classes. The regular university classes are 3 months long, 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours each meeting, with midterms, finals, papers up the yang, quizzes and what not. And still regular homework, reading the text, and what not. Complainig about posting a comment or two 4 times a week is silly, think about it instead of having to cram for a midterm! And the instructors, at least the ones I had, are knowledgeble, helpful people who work in the field they teach and care about the subject and the students. I have gotten a lecture for every week of class I ever attended, instructors answered every comment and question IN TIME, they have fascilitated the classes in the easiest way possible for students to get the most out of the 5 weeks. The syllabus contains all the information that you need to post your assignments in time, with detailed explanations about attentance and other requirements. If you can't follow instructions, DON'T BLAME THE SCHOOL!!! The fist class does seem redundant, it's there to get you used to the environment, online or campus, and your credits don't get transferred until 2 classes later, they do get evaluated and applied (39 credits here). But the 2 1/2 years is assumed that you already have some college or other classes (as most adults do) that you can transfer and shorten your time at the school. Going in with 0 credits will take you the 4 years to complete the degree. Also, you are allowed to double up, it's up to you how you go about your education. It's true, UOP won't lead you by the hand, and spoon feed you your readings, YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK! This school does offer flexibiliy and convinience, I would not trade it for a regular semester in State school for anything. So if you like 3 months long classes, 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours each meeting - UOP is not for you. If you can't get to school in time or can't sit in front of a computer for half an hour 4 days a week - UOP is not for you. If you can't find the discipline to do your homework, read the materials and have to get it spoon-fed to you over 3 months - UOP is not for you. If you can't figure out to fill out forms, remember your advisors phone # or any other task as an adult who is serious about their education - UOP is not for you. If you going to whine about every little thing - Higher Education is not for you! Get an unaccredited degree on the Internet for $600 in 2-3 days with no classes or experience, and good luck with the rest of your life! One thing it true - UOP is expensive! So are other colleges. It's a private school, what are you going to do. Community college costs $60 a credit, good luck. To be fair, I can't speak for any other campus, the one I went to was in San Diego, and it was great. So if you are concidering San Diego, it's legit. Other places, read and believe what you want. Online, though - everything I read here about online sounded like a bunch of whiners. Sorry, I have to say none of the comments sounded like they could not been fixed by a little hard work and self-discipline. Oh, and there is a survey after every class, you can submit your problems there, if you have them. I never had to. So, to conclude, UOP is the University for working ADULTS, if you are not one, please do not attend this school. Post office is always hiring.

I am a current employee with UOP and I can openly say that "yes we are a degree mill"...Our admissions department will enroll anybody (no matter what their background holds). In fact our campus recently enrolled a 75 year old woman into our Computer Technology program who has never touched a computer in her life. As I spoke with her more, she also cannot speak english as well. Apparently she has 3.4 GPA in her program...Also our Online program is a joke (in my opinion). You might as well teach yourself and save over $30, 000 dollars...I mean there is not even a simple lecture explaning anything in each course. Student's are just expected to miraculous pull the answers out of their head....
