I attended UoP back in 2010 I was told by my advisor I would not owe anything beside my student loan which agreed to. I was then placed in the wrong classes when i tried to correct it my advisor was very rude and would not help me she said then drop out and re enroll in the correct class. So I finished up my semster and told her to get me enrolled in the right class. I then asked her again that the only bills I owe was the fed loan student loans. she insured me it was and that was important to me due to me being a single mother. Well 4 years later iam still paying on my student loan but then got a call stating I owe the school over $1,000 which makes no sense. I tried talking to the school but they would not talk to me. I see that many others have had this same issue. something needs to be done about this school double dipping. If we pay the student loans off how is the school charging the students the same amount as what we are paying the fed loan for.

Double Dipping?

Double dipping is the least of it! They are straight up stealing money from the students. At first I thought (along with some friends that they were robbing Peter to pay Paul). However, they tried charging me 68.00 extra that I did not owe. That was dropped for now anyway. I have spent the last (4) disbursments without getting any money or hardly any at all. Even though my statements and paper work said I should have recieved 3,000 (rounded).

I am sitting here waiting yet again for my money that should have already been here. They have one more week only before I hire a lawyer, and shout this out to the world at the least. Media coverage is so needed on this school. So is an audit. I suggest any lawer taking these cases have a audit/forensic audit done ASAP. I also ordered a transcript of a cost of seven dollars, and it was sent on a PDF electronically. That was not a problem, but what was a problem was that after 24 hours or so the link was no longer any good!

You would have to order another transcript if you needed it for anything important. I signed a contract with the school to keep my tuition at or below 14,000 a year, and they said that did not include the Bachelors program. The contract never said it did not count the Bacholers program, it said the time I was in school. That conviently went out the door, and they even had me do an exit counseling when I should have not needed one. I wonder if that was to cancel out the contract.

They were good at first, to pull you right in I guess, but then they turn the tables on you and think you will just accept/not do anything about the situation. I had no problems (that I knew of) until I was reading complaints on the student portal, and responded to many of the students. I told them where to go to get their information, paper work, and the data on how much money the school gets, and how much you are supposed to recieve. After that I have been put through hades.

I have many health issues, and all the stress they are putting me under is making those health issues worse. If I do not recieve my money this time or the back pay they owe me, I would like one of you lawyers to contact me to take my case. I have chronic kidney failure and I refuse to let this school keep taking advantage of people, including myself.

P.S.

Another thing is there statements they email you, the last one's I recieved had nothing on them. I called the school to have them send me a copy of all my records of money recieved, and money disbursed. I am still waiting! It has been over a month now. I have told them it was for a CPA, and taxes, and I still have not recieved anything. They had to talk with the manager first, then there he did not do anything with it, and now I am waiting for someone else to send it out. Do I think they will? Of course not, they have to much to hide.

The school isn't double-dipping. The problem is two-fold. First, you believed the salesperson who sold you on the school. These so-called "advisors" are there only to enroll more students. They will lie through their teeth to do it. Just read the number of reports on ROR.  Second, you didn't do your due diligence and check out the financial aspect on your own. This is probably the biggest mistake most new students make.  When you signed for your loans they should have sent you a statement that said something to the effect that "tuition is $X, student loans are $Y and you will owe the difference".

There is a reason these are "for-profit" schools.

There is probably nothing you can do at this point except pay the bill.

For everyone else:  DON'T BELIEVE THESE SALESPEOPLE!!  Check it out for yourself. Get everything in writing, and keep the copies of all correspondence (print out the emails).

Make sure you understand how the student loan process works.

Do NOT enroll until your financial aid packet (usually called an award letter; it's a summary of your loans, pell grants, and tuition due) is completed. Get a signed copy.  Tell the "advisor" you won't enroll without it. Don't fall for the "enroll now, worry about the money later" routine.

And check out your local community collegel FIRST.  They offer online programs for the working adult and are far cheaper.
