I can not believe these people. I was enrolled in an on line course through University of Phoenix. I had straight A's. The last final paper on my computer crashed. I went to the library early the next morning and sent my teacher a note and also sent my paper the very next morning. Because it was after midnight she gave me a failing grade. Because of that universities that I only them several thousand dollars. I placed a rebuttal ties the feeling grade was not my fault. I didn't hear from anyone for a long time. Then at that collector started calling, no, not calling, harassing me. They called day and night. They callied me rude and derogatory names. they threatened attorneys law suits and jail.

I am not an attorney.  I would suggest that you start taping these telephone calls and document the times of these calls.  What they are doing to you is illegal.  You need to get the proof.  I would pay the orginal creditor and keep the proof of payment.  I would not deal with some dirtbag collector.  This will get them mad.  You can also contact a NACA attorney.  They sometimes take cases on contingency basis.  But, you need the evidence as to who is doing it. so you can file suit in federal court.  There are ways to record from your cell phone or regular phone. You need to investigate this.

Once you have proof that they are harassing you.  I would start filing complaints with the following agencies:

Federal Trade Commission

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Your state Attorney General.

As for the grade.  You need to take it up with University of Phoenix.

Surely there must be a way to contact the dean of students and file an appeal.  This is sad that a teacher did not allow some adjustment on this.  I wish you the best of luck.

Well, it was assigned a few days before. But this is because the online classes are made for people who are working full time and are single mothers, as i was,; at least that is what they advertised. I tried to turn it in as soon as I could, I had it typed long before, but didn't have the opportunity to post it until my cuter died.

I would ask one question... When was the final paper assigned to you? If it was assigned on the day your computer crashed, then it is not your fault for sure. If it was assigned to you long before, then you are likely to be at fault because you could submit early at any time and not wait until the last minute.

Once you fell into their trap, there is no need to get out but pay off the money.
