"We are not seeing the preferred outcomes from the enrollment of Intel employees at certain for-profit schools, such as the Univ. of Phoenix, owned by the Phoenix, Ariz. based Apollo Group," said Intel spokesman Bill Mckenzie.

So, Intel hammers UOP by dropping UOP tuition reimbursement. Alan Fisher, Intel's Extended Education Manager followed up with this scorching remark," it's a reflection of the high standards Intel has."

UOP has graduated hundreds of Intel employees and those graduates simply have not passed muster, and "could not compete for internal openings with outside candidates, who often were held to higher educational standards."

There you have it, folks. Intel has 100,000 employees and has summarily flunked UOP/Apollo. Lots of other schools made the cut, including all of Arizona's(UOP'HQ)public Universities. Heck, even DeVry survived; but NOT UOP.

Now, it's not only United States v. UOP (just type those words into Google for THAT story) but, also, Intel v. UOP.

What happens when all the other corporate hiring managers find out that Intel has canned UOP? Intel now has a huge sampling of UOP grads within their ranks and has found they are getting clobbered in the workplace by graduates of real Universities.

Ren-you cannot "categorically deny" anything, because you were not in my program. I haven't spoken for you-so don't speak for me. And contrary to your belief about our lawsuit-crazy society, not liking what an instructor does or does not do is hardly grounds for litigation! So a professor asking female students out on dates, while tacky and unprofessional, is not actionable lawsuit material. It does, however, tend to erode the overall quality of the University. This is evident with the recent news that more than a few companies are considering dropping U of P as a tuition reimbursable entity. And how can you deny all the negative comments on this and other websites? My advisors sucked at U of P. Absolutely horrible, and none of them even had a degree whatsoever-I always made it a point to ask. And they never lasted long enough for me to get to know thier name! And that is unfortunate. Believe me-I am the last one who wants to wake up someday to find out that the degree you claim I don't have is now worthless. None of my complaints was ever responded to. I was even threatened with legal action for "unpaid" expenses which didn't exist. And I am a graduate-I am not one of the many fools on this site who threw their arms up in defeat and quit. So Ren-you're full of it. As an employee, you should concentrate your efforts on fixing the problems the U of P has, rather than trying to argue with folks who have been there and done that.

Let's get real and be honest with ourselves. First of all, the individual who wrote this posting is clearly no Masters Graduate of UOP. Having been through the program myself, and experiencing the teaching of MANY different teachers, I can categorically deny and refute EVERY story of harassment or prejudice this "student" claims to have witnessed. Even outside of my own experience, the University is so large that it simply would not tolerate such behavior, (each class would be it's own lawsuit, and in this litigation crazy world, you can be assured the lawsuits would be there, every one) and takes appropriate actions to monitor and coach the faculty on a continual basis. The one major point that individuals who speak out against University of Phoenix fail to recognize, is that the same people who teach their beloved "public" universities, also teach online for UOP. They are coming from the same demographic, they teach in the same manner, etc. Anyone who has obtained their degree knows by experience that teaching styles vary dramatically between professors, some styles will be liked, and some will not, it's all part of the experience. But the important point here is, we're dealing with the same professors! So then we know that the individuals who are teaching in public Universities are also teaching online, the curriculum is essentially the same, etc. So what then is the difference in the quality of education obtained? The STUDENT of course! If a student does not master their field of study, online or off, it is because they have not applied themselves, they have not pursued after it. That, and that alone, is what will determine the actual quality of education, wherever a student chooses to attend.

I must say that I have seen this coming for awhile. I am not here to "pile on" the negativity about U of P, because I put a lot of hard work into the program and did learn a lot, but Frank's article points out something that was bound to happen sooner or later. As a graduate of both the Master's Program at U of P, and a traditional program at a state university in Arizona, I feel I am well-qualified to comment on this matter. In my experience with the Uniersity of Phoenix, (14 classes) some of the U of P instructors were just horrible. Two of them used their "introductory page" and status as instructors to hit on women in my classes. Male students were mostly ignored by these instructors, as were our complaints. One of my instructors frequently spoke about porn, and one used every opportunity he could to make negative comments about the War on Terror, even though our class had nothing to do with that topic. The left-leaning bias which permeates the U of P is just undeniable. In fact, I had one instructor who must have had an altar to John Kerry at his home. He was so pround when the University donated millions to Kerry's campaign! I also had a muslim student in my program for awhile. The instructors would be practically salivating on themselves and tripping over their shoelaces at her every anti-American word, while ignoring the rest of us. I would not recemmend U of P for any of my subordinates. Although my company does still approve U of P for tuition reimbursement, I may try to get that changed if I don't see improvements made. They have never responded to any of the complaints I made. You think they would take the time to respond to a 4.00 GPA student, wouldn't you? If the U of P doesn't get a more balanced faculty, and conduct better background checks and hiring interviews, they will be in big trouble. They have already lost millions to lawsuits because of their shady recruiting practices. On average, the U of P crowd is older and wiser than the traditional college crowd that is easy to brainwash. They just don't fall for this ultra-liberal leaning hogwash as much as they used to. This situation is very unfortunate because I did have a few really good instructors, and I learned quite a bit from them. But I think U of P is on the way down. I would not be suprised if the U of P hired Ward Churchill at some point! Mark Yuma, Arizona
