My elderly disabled parents were scammed today by Uniway of Columbia. I only wish that they would've told me about this little adventure they went on before they left. I could've saved them the trip. I'm not sure what I can do to help them now. I can say that at least no money has transferred from my parents to this company as of yet, but they did sign a contract with them. I'm advising them not to pay the 1,000.00 membership fee, and I would like to know if any attorneys are looking into this business. They are preying on the weak, disabled, single parents, and on those who are just too nieve to recognize that they're being scammed. I'm outraged to know that this will go on my parent's credit! There should be a 72 hour contract cancelation available to my parents, and others who discover too late that this company is a rip-off. They promise all this free swag, and half off of retail if you buy off line through their catalog. You don't get this catalog however. You just have to take their word that anything you want to purchase off line they have it, and at half off the retail price. Their sales practices our ghastly to say the least they bully, intimidate, and insult you into signing! Then they don't hold up to their end of the bargain when it comes to the merchandise they offer at half off. They act as if it's anything your little heart desires, when in fact their supplies are very limited! I also noticed in some of the other reports that the membership amounts vary O.o... There has to be something illegal in the way they are ripping these individuals off. If there is an attorney with a heart please read this, and the other complaints. Research this company, and shut them down before anyone else gets scammed!!! My parents gave these people their personal information including their SSN's. If you are a future consumer reading this, please don't give anyone your personal information, and if it sounds too good to be true... IT'S A SCAM!!!

I too was taken in by Uniway. They take you on a one-time tour then ask you to sign a contract. BUT you can not think about whether you actually want to sign or not. If you walk out the door your chance of signing up is GONE! Your decision has to be made right then and there on the spot or any chance of trying to get good furniture at decent prices is gone (or so you are made to think). I was so looking forward to trying to furnish my new dream home with good quality furniture at discount prices, Haha! Well, now I have a collection on my credit report, absolutely no purchases made through Uniway because I couldn't find anything that I could really save money on, and I feel like a fool!!

I have been an employee of Uniway for several years and I have to say that years ago the salesmen did put a little pressure on perspective members. But now, the sales team has the same outlook that any other company has when they are trying to close a deal. I am a Christian and very proud of being on the Uniway team. I have not heard anyone trying to sell a membership to anyone that didn't want it, couldn't afford it or just wasn't even interested in it. As a matter of fact the people that place the calls to people ask if their income is at least $40k a year.
The relationship that Uniway has with the over 900 manufacturers that they represent will not allow anyone to take the tour of the uniway showroom but ONE TIME. So when someone does come in and take the tour they are asked a simple question, sign YES if this is for you or NO you are declining this offer. You still get the gifts that are offered either way. So when someone says that this is a SCAM or that they were mistreated it really does make me cringe. There are several companies out there that do similar things such as Direct Buy but I'm proud of the way that the Uniway of Columbia conducts their business. For a one hour tour you get a lot of information and its up to you what you do with it. So go, take a tour, and judge for yourself.
