UPG LLC (David Carr - NY Lawyer -owner) has to be at the top as a sleazy law-breaking debt collection company. I recently took a part-time position that would eventually turn into a 40 hour week. I quit almost immediately after the "training class" which was not only misleading, but dangerous to first time collectors. The trainer, and so-called compliance manager, Heron Simmonds Price, was not only oblivious to the FDCPA, and State Law, but he was a complete bore. His computer screen is a nude lady covered a few areas by leaves, and he has the collectors screens say, Get The F****** Money" with a Leonardo DeCaprio image. Please understand the guy DeCaprio portrayed went to jail. This is offensive, and abusive.
While "lecturing" Heron Simmonds-Price, (wanna-be-doctorate) yawned continuously, and preached about getting his Doctorate in Philosophy (maybe 20 years ago), and tired to weasel his way through collection law, which he had just enough knowledge to be dangerous. He enticed us to call debtors continuously throughout the day, and harassment was an opinion - nothing in stone. He said never use the word payday loan, but short term financial agreement, tell the debtors they committed fraud because they are in breach, and use an alias. Please understand this is all approved by a practicing New York State Lawyer David Carr. Over the last couple months Dave Carr opened an office in the country of Jamaica, a company house in Jamacia, purchase a Chicago based debt collection company, and he also owns a Buffalo Bar previous know as Third Base, and he continues to bounce employees checks. It is obvious that the business will move to Jamaica as cheaper wages, and less laws abound. David Carr and his managing staff are pure sleaze.
When I got on the floor collectors were making threats, and using false, misleading, and obscure language. This was all under the supervision of a Jen. Jen is the collections manager and demands the first telephone be made to the debtors place of employment (POE). She doesn't want to be bothered with State Law. She also has the car loan collectors "state" a tow truck is in the parking lot looking for their car. If the debtor isn't there the collector tell all to the supervisor, co-worked, or anyone else. Keep in mind this is all approved by the operations manager, Russ Capise. What is unbelievable is that UPG LLC RECORDS EVERY CALL and Heron Simmons Price, Jen, and Russ Capise approve all the abuse the collectors give to the debtors.
Meanwhile, the company's checks bounce, and the collectors are forced to take turns cleaning the office--all for $10.00. UPG LLC. UPG LLC doe snot provide its employees with health insurance, or sick days. They provide no paid time off for deaths, and less then one week time off. It is a fly- buy- night sweat shop that pushes for over 300 calls a day.
