UPRIGHT LAW SCAM / BAIT AND SWITCH / NO REFUND

This company is a SCAM, they pressure you into a decision and are quick to take your money, use bait and switch tactics, then avoid your calls, put you on long holds to get rid of you, and never call you back when you need something from them. We started working with Upright Law around the 1st of January 2019 when we were put in contact with one of their intake specialist Shey Sarumi.

From the start they are very pushy about getting a payment to “start the process as soon as possible”. During the intake process they take down all your information such as income, household status, employment, and personal business to prequalify you for the bankruptcy. We took our time thought things through, and asked a lot of questions to be sure we would qualify before moving forward.

Between the first and the 11th, when we decided to move forward and made our first payment, Shey called us every day and sometimes several times a day to pressure us into a decision. On the 11th we made our first payment of $600 and were told we would receive a call from the attorney in the next two days.

It took over a week calling Upright Law several times and waiting on hold for over 45 minutes to talk to anyone, and finally got in contact with our attorney, Bianca Williams. At which time she promptly informed us that because we own businesses we would not qualify for the bankruptcy and price Upright Law signed us up for and that it would cost us more to move forward. All of this information was given to Upright Law during the intake process.

This is a typical “BAIT AND SWITCH” tactic, and now we were worried if we would ever see a refund. We immediately started calling trying to get in touch with someone about the refund and once again went through the hours of waiting on hold, getting the run around and never being able to talk to anyone who could do anything. It took me threatening to report them as a scam and bait and switch company to finally talk to Matt Sheehan, Senior Client Service Executive, on January 21st.

During this conversation Matt gave me a sob story that their company was going through some difficulties with attorneys retiring in Tennessee and that Upright Law was having to process so many refunds that it was taking 20 to 30 days to get everything processed and since he had just approved our refund he could not escalate it, but if I had not received anything in the next 20 days he wanted me to call him personally and he would be able to escalate the refund and have it processed immediately.

After getting off the phone with Matt he sent me an email changing what he had said and now stating that it would be 30 BUSINESS DALYS, that’s 1.5 months. Of course around day 22 we still have not seen a refund, are now being told that it could take up to 45 business days for the refund, are being put on hour long holds, told Matt Sheehan does not work for the company, and not receiving any call backs.

On day 26 after calling the police and several irate calls to Upright Law Matt Sheehan finally calls us back and says that he can not escalate the refund, that the holdup is now because attorneys have died and they are covered up with refunds. The excuses keep changing, we keep getting the run around, and seriously doubt that we will ever see our money again. As of March 4th we are on business day 31 and still have not seen anything from Upright Law.

They stole our money with a bait and switch and are holding it from us with a “promise” of a refund in the next few months. This tactic is used when companies are needing interest free loans to keep them afloat. This company is a predator taking advantage of those who have fallen on hard times. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!
