My husband dropped 2 packages off at the UPS store (6107 SW MURRAY BLVD, Beaverton OR 97008) on Jun 1, 2007, with return labels provided by Overstock.com. As of 6/12/07 (after verifying with Overstock), only one of the packages got delivered to Overstock (delivered on 6/5/07). I had called the UPS 800# and was told that they did not have any tracking information on it was told to contact the UPS Store directly to find out the receipt number (which we did not get any when we drop off the packages). I called the UPS Store and was told that they do not give any receipts for packages with return labels on them and told me to contact the UPS 800# again. After speaking with a supervisor (Tamika Sanders) at the UPS 800#, I was basically told that there's nothing they could do if they don't have a receipt number.

After emailing a complaint to UPS on 6/12/07, they responded with "If you are having problems with a specific UPS Store you will need to contact Corporate Mail Boxes Etc., Inc Customer Relations at 1-800-789-4623." On 6/13/07, I called this number and was told that the stores are independently owned and UPS cannot control their actions; hence, there's nothing too they can do about it. The rep. added that the UPS delivery person doesn't necessarily have to scan every package that they pick up from the UPS store either. I questioned him on how do they ensure that packages are safe as there doesn't seem to have any theft prevention measure in place? In conclusion, he told me to get Overstock to file a claim to UPS.

Basically, I'm screwed! I'm very frustrated with the bad service and non-accountability by UPS and even angrier that my package is just "lost" in their store and was told there was nothing I could do about it! So now I'm down $160 as my item never made it back to Overstock for the refund. It may seem like a small amount of money but I wonder how many unlucky people are out there suffering the same 'fate'??

6/15/07. This matter is satisfactorily resolved by the owner, David, at the UPS Store. I apologize if there was accusations of theft; if they were in my shoes (not being able to get any further help to look into this matter), they might have felt the same way too. Apparently, the problem was that Overstock had the UPS tracking number wrong in their system and the tracking number was different from what was printed on the label. Overstock finally found the package. If it hadn't been for The Better Business Bureau, I believe I wouldn't have gotten the attention from the business to resolve this issue so quickly.
