Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
If you have direct deposit and your paycheck is scheduled to post Monday at 12:00 a.m., and you have written a check Saturday evening--the thieves at US Bank will say the check posted a day earlier than your direct deposit. How can a check that's not electronically filed, written on a Saturday get to the bank and post on Monday? We have been ripped off twice, but never again.... [and we all know that banks does not process on Saturdays]. When the check shows up, in order to collect overdraft fees, they will say the check posted Monday afternoon. There is no way!! I know for sure, because I wrote a check from my other account at a different bank, at the same business, on a Saturday, and this check took three days to clear my other account. Banks are legally "licensed" to steal from the people. I have a friend who is a former bank employee to tell me that, "Banks defiinitely does capitalize upon your ignorance." I don't exactly call it ignorance, but the bank's way of making easy profits off of direct deposit accounts. I definitely believe that these fraudulent practices will be exposed & "nipped in the bud" someday, soon.

At Some Banks Deposits Always go IN before Payments are made

#2Consumer Suggestion

I myself have lost thousands of dollars banking with US Bank. Their overdraft policies and the horrid way they handle deposits and payments are the worst. I have had several discussions over the phone about the way they have handled the account. All it takes is One small miscalculation, One automatic payment etc... and you could be charged thousands of dollars in overdraft fees. In my case I had my T-Mobile phone bill come out automatically each month. Usually the service cost me $73.50 per month but One month I went over my minutes and it charged $148 not knowing this ahead of time eventually sent my account into the negative. But I was not only charged one fee but several fees as there were also smaller charges for food, supplies etc. using my Debit Card. I had thought I maintained a positive balance figuring I had about $70 extra dollars in the account even if the normal T-mobile bill was paid I was thinking I was OK. The extra $70+ taken from the account by the Cell phone overage charges turned everything into a huge spiraling mess. $38 overdraft fees were assessed for every small debit card purchase made, because even though those purchases should have gone through first US Bank has the policy of paying the BIG charges first. Supposedly this is to help protect the consumer so that mortgages, rent, electricity bills and large bills get paid and are not declined due to insufficient funds. Unfortunately It benefits the bank more and hurts the consumer ten times as much since now they can put your account in the negative first then asses fees for every purchase rather than pay all the purchases when the account is in the positive then pay the one large one that takes it over into the negative and only asses one fee. In any case I ended up with over $180 in Overdraft fees for that one day. As soon as I saw the negative balance on the account I deposited $350 dollars. But little did I know there were still more overdraft charges pending. I made a few small purchases and one larger one for groceries using the Debit Card. Blam the other overdraft charges came in putting the balance at -$8 and then conveniently after so did the purchases. More overdraft fees were assessed and eventually the Overdraft fees for the month ended up at about $560 for just One month! Now I call my branch manager to explain the situation and every time I got a lecture about balancing my check book properly. I explain the T-mobile bill was an unexpectedly high bill and I understand they have to charge me overdraft but I was now in an endless downward spiral, since now I was depositing against their overdrafts. And that I was now being assessed even more overdraft fees because I didn't realize how many overdraft fees I was being charged the first time and had now gone into the negative again. The Branch manager lectured me again, "Oh well you need to balance your account better....." I let her know it's hard to balance an account when your bank keeps adding more and more overdraft charges. "well sir you should know that once your account goes into the negative, that you would be assessed an overdraft fee and make sure you deduct those fee from your balance, so any deposits you make, and if you know you have 8 purchases after your account goes into the negative then you should have 8 $38 dollar charges to subtract from your balance" Was this lady serious? I told her "Look if I was hit by a surprise excess charge and went over the limit I sure am not going to know when that would have been in the purchase history and so I would not know how many overdraft charges you have pending. I only know the actual Overdraft Charges I can see when I check my account online. I added as much money as I possibly could to put it into a positive balance, and then more charges start appearing after I deposited the money. Putting me back in the negative and assessing more overdraft charges. I just need the insanity to stop. You are charging me for going over into the negative because your own charges put me into the negative again." I called over and over and got the same condescending tone from this woman so I finally decided to take the drive all the way back to my old neighborhood and visit the bank I signed up at. (unfortunatly you have to go back to or call the original bank you opened your checking account with as they are the only ones with the authority to reverse your overdraft fees) As always a visit in person canb do you wonders. An angry customer on the phone is only One Tenth the power of an angry customer at their bank. No one wants to lose 20 customers because one angry customer is trying to get a resolution to a problem. I was finally able to get them to stop the pending Overdraft charges and reverse 5 of the previous charges to finally put me back in the positive long enough to get back on my feet. Now my suggestion: FIND A BETTER BANK! Fast forward a year later... My friend being witness to the insanity I endured with US Bank recommended I try (((competitor's name redacted))). She said "(((redacted)))'s policy works for the customer, they always do withdrawls at the end of the day only, and they only do that after they do deposits first. You can check your account online and if it shows pending chages and shows you will be going into the negative once that is paid, you can run to the bank make a cash deposit and know that you will be fine since your deposit will go through before they make the withdawls." That's all i needed to know... I signed up within the week. It took a little while to completely transfer from US bank, but I haven't had any problems at (((redacted))), and I have had One more overdraft at US bank so I'm finally just going to close the US bank account for good. Just close your US Bank account, Never take a loan from them, find another Bank and ask what their deposit to withdrawl policies are, what their ATM policies are etc... Find out how they do their fees. Do your research and find a better bank. In Colorado It's (((competitor's names redacted))) if you want possible fair Banking policies, I would still check them out personally as policies may vary and you want something thet works for you. sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. In this case we removed an alleged competitor's name

is the company you wrote the check to may have an account at US Bank. When you wrote the check Saturday, it would have been deposited Sunday through the dropoff and processed Monday by the bank. If the company's account is at US Bank then the check would hit your account Monday. Where a check written by you for another bank would take a couple of days to clear. However, the act of writing a check on Saturday when you knew you didn't have money in the account to cover it is illegal. I'd suggest not writing the check until you know the money is available. it'll keep you from having fees accessed on your account and keep you out of court if the company decided to press charges.

That branch of US bank is open on Saturday. IF a bank has many branches open on Saturday, as US Bank does, then they process all the work form those branches on Saturday or Sunday.
