Okay, so I had some problems with overdrafts earlier in the year. At a certain point they said "you can't have any more overdrafts without taking it the branch you opened your account with". Which is 300 miles away in Chicago.

When I take any problem to them, they tell me to screw myself.

So last night, after making sure I had everything covered, I paid my mortgage (also with US Bank, of course) at the last possible moment. Also paid my health insurance bill on the last possible day. Because I flat out broke. In debt to the hilt. In no small part to US Bank of course... and stuff like the following.

A charge for about $2 that I had forgotten came through. My "available balance" (not, of course, the actual balance, I could almost stomach that) became overdrawn by $1.23. They promptly hit me with a $35 overdraft fee, although, of course, the insurance charge has not formally hit the account yet, but it's taken off the "available balance".

Now I realize that when it DOES get charged, they will charge me ANOTHER overdraft fee. Kind of a 2-for-1 deal. The insurance bill caused the first charge, the mortgage, to overdraw the account, and then the insurance bill causes the second fee as well.

So now it's too late to pay the insurance. I will have my health insurance canceled. By the time I can get anything in writing up to Chicago, it will be too late to fix the overdrafts. I was going to put a stop payment on a check due to hit the account, but won't do it as long as there's a chance to reverse the fees.

So that will bounce as well in a day or two.

All because of overdrafting my account by a bit over a dollar. $105 in charges headed my way.

Thanks, US Bank. Five star customer service you got there!

You just admitted that a charge you forgot about came through. So, yeah, your error.
