I enjoyed working for the area manager for this company as he was a laid back guy to work for, but this may have been a big factor in why the district office out of Chicago was able to make him into a pushover so easily.

When starting with the company and even beforehand during the interview, you are promised 9.50 and hour to start, then 10.00 an hour after your 90 day probation period. Another guard and myself were the only two guards handling a brand new site that many other private and in house security companies tried but failed to get control of. And we truly made a difference as most of the residents were quick to point out. This site clearly needed 3 guards due to the number of hours the site required each week and we handled working mad hours with ease and patience. They eventually brought on a third guard which wasn't bad, but one would think due to seniority, that the other guard and I can now pick at least one day that we would prefer to have off. This did not happen, however, this is not what really upset me the most. The fact that after our probation period elapsed, and our raise was no where to be found, we brought it to the area manager's attention.

After getting the run around for clearly too long, he finally tells us the great news. We were given a 25 cent raise to bring us to 9.75 and hour! Getting stiffed on a quarter an hour was not the death of me, but being blatantly lied to so I would be a body to fill a position erked me to no end. I have since left the company and I have been gone for quite some time. The funny thing is, to this day they have been requesting for me to return thier uniforms. I've got news for ya, they're mine now, I paid for them. Better yet, you will get them after your 90 probation period......

this sort of thing ahppens all the time. On paper, you guys WERE given a $10.00 an hour pay BUT SOMEBODY SKIMMED SOME OFF IT and you got what was left. Who SKIMMED it? Could be anybody from your local manager on up... If it was written to you on paper that you were going to get this raise, then you have an employment contract and you might want to consider sueing for their violation of your contract ---however, it would be more trouble than it is worth. Usually they manage to fire you the day before you reach that 90-day probation so that way they don't have to pay you anything. they can just go get some other sucker off of the street who is so desparate t for a job that he or she won't care what they get as long as they have a job, any job...and because of the CROOKS we have in office, that day will be coming sooner than you now. Of course, you DO realize that you are going to get FAKE AND BAD JOB REFERENCES FROM HELL FROM THESE PEOPLE FROM NOW ON...
