Supervisor assured us that he and his crew will take good care of us and this move will cost around $2,400.  However, this move turned out to be the most disastrous move of our lives.

Even though I told the foreman what items needed to be moved, the following is a list of items left behind:

1.      Patio furniture (big round table with four oversized chairs and eight cushions)

2.      Two big full length oversized mirrors.

3.      One big mirror with heavy frame.

4.      Two large and four small glass shelves for the large entertainment center in the family room.

5.      Two glass tops for coffee tables.

6.      Entertainment center in the master bedroom (because movers did not how to disconnect the TV from the entertainment center).

7.      Big folding mirror screen (three panels).

Two trucks were completely packed with small apple boxes instead of big items that we cannot move on our own and other items my husband marked them not to take. Later we discovered that some of the wardrobe boxes were less than quarter full with three or four items and taped like crazy.

Next day we had to rent a U-Haul truck and hired two people ($10 an hour) to move the heavy items (such as dressers, night stands, chaise, filing cabinets, etc.) left in the garage and put together items they left without unwrapping or putting together such as four bed frames (two King, one queen and one twin sizes) and an oversized entertainment center with a very heavy TV set.  It cost us another $500.

But the most upsetting things were the damaged items listed below:

1.      Piano:  We listed piano as one of the items to be removed and Lee told my husband that the movers know how to handle moving a piano.  However, the movers showed up without proper tools to disassemble to piano and my husband had to go to Home Depot to get it. Even though they practically mummified the piano, they rolled the piano into the living room and they did not even put the entire piano back together before they left.  Piano may not have scratches, but the pedals were not reinstalled, CD player no longer works and the piano cover does not close properly.

2.      Round dining table was wrapped and wrapped and taped excessively, but the way they handled to table to wrap and unwrap caused the edges to be completely damaged and top has strange markings would not come out and needs refinishing.

3.      Massage chair arm attachment to hold control panel was broken.  Also, the chair is jerky when it is in reclining position.

4.      Beige suede bed (this is the one needs plastic covering the most) was mishandled by movers with their dirty sweaty hands and thrown in to the moving truck without any plastic covering because they ran out of plastics.  Because they used so much plastic for every little thing that when they were ready to move beige suede bed, no more plastics left.

5.      Foreman was taking off a finial top for a lamp as he explaining how lamp should be packaged to prevent it from breaking; he dropped finial top and broke it.  He asked me whether I have any crazy glue.

They mummified everything in excess takes forever to wrap things unnecessarily. When I complained that they take too much time, they told me that because people complain about damaged furniture.  But it not the lack of taping, it is the way they handle items to wrap and unwrap furniture cause damages based on my observation. They did not handle things with care.

I had $3,800 in my checking account (well over $2,800 cost estimate I received from Lee or her supervisor), but the final bill was $4,000 after so called many discounts. I felt like I just got punched in my stomach.  They told me if I do not pay $4,000, they will take the truck to Van Nuyes with all my belongings and I will have to pay even more money get my furniture back.  Twice they put my debit card numbers wrong and when they tried third time with correct numbers, the bank put a fraud hold on my card.  Showcase Homes end up paying entire $4,000 on my behalf which I paid it back later.

We felt that movers taped items unnecessarily (practically mummified some items), including tops of wardrobe boxes.  Also, when the foreman was putting together piano for example, all other five guys standing there watching him. We felt that it was a ploy to lengthen the moving time and charge ridiculous amount of money for packing materials.

2.      Please reimburse us for some of the packing material cost:  I supplies most of the clear tapes because I did not like them to use brown tapes.  I had numerous moving boxes, wardrobe boxes and apple boxes from the previous move so I did not have to pay for new moving boxes.  So why am I charged $1,381 for packing materials?
