My wife and I also fell victum to these rip-off artists. I did create a web site to publish to my "unlimited" web space, only to find if I wanted to use my own software (Frontpage or Dreamweaver) to create the site and my own FTP software to upload it, my unlimited space dropped down to 100 megabytes. Granted that is a lot of space but it's far from unlimited. And, of course, we didn't find out about this until well AFTER the 3 day cancel period had expired. Still, we tried to be hopeful and dutifully and paid the fees for a year. In the entire year we had NO income from the site and not even a single email from the site.

Someone else mentioned in their report that the speaker at the seminar they attended stated that PayPal was going out of business, we were told the same thing. That we had to have a merchant account, and merchant accounts were SO expensive from other sources.

To the ex-EPenzio employee who has listed a few rebuttals, not everyone who attends a seminar is looking to "get rich quick". I had a full time job, my wife was very ill, we were looking for a way to increase our income to cover her medical bills. She is on the list for a Heart/Double Lung Transplant that she will die without and those expenses are staggering! And if the EPenzio/Fair Financial people don't believe me, they can check it out via The National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF) at www.transplantfund.org and the fundraising site I created out of desperation when I lost my job! www.heartforadele.com

We contacted Fair Financial and begged them to let us out of the contracts. We didn't ask for any of the money we had paid them previous, we just wanted out at that point. Basically the answer we got was, "Gee, sorry to hear about your wife. But you signed the contracts"

In the mean time they kept hitting our checking account, costing us hundreds of dollars in overdrafts. The bank finally closed down our account! I guess that's one way to stop payments to Fair Financial!! Then the phone calls started. The stress was too much, with Adele's health and just having lost my job, we had the phone number changed. I'm sure they are going to take legal action and I have no idea what we'll do when that happens.

I'm sure there will be a crisp, clean and tidy rebuttal to this report. And possibly an offer such as I read in one rebuttal to help the unhappy person to sell his Epenzio account, providing he finds the buyer himself.

I would dearly love to see a class action suit to shut these people down. If a suit is filed I hope I find out about it in time to add our voices! In the mean time, I just hope other potential "clients" will find this web site in time to read the warnings and prevent them from making the same horrible mistakes we made.

How to resolve this issue

#3Consumer Suggestion

Thu, May 08, 2003

As of May 8, 2003, the Utah Department of Consumer Affairs is gathering information for another class action law suite. Please file a report. I have been dealing with the same issues. I have filed a report with Au Pauga at the Utah Consumer Affairs Department. This department took Avalon AKA Epenzio, Pacific Webworks, Work-At-Home, etc. (They are all the same company) to court in March for the same complaints. They took them to court in violation of the Consumer Sales Practices Act. They are getting ready to file another class action suit against Avalon and in order for you to be listed as a plantiff, you need to file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department. Here is the website: www.consumerprotection.utah.gov The person handling this is Au Pauga Utah Division of Consumer Protection Heber M. Wells Building, Second Floor 160 East 300 South, SM Box 14607 Salt Lake City, Utah 84114 (801) 530-6601 fax (801) 530-6001 Please file right away and tell anyone else that you know is in the predicament

State of Utah investigating ePenzio

#4Consumer Suggestion

Tue, March 11, 2003

The Consumer Protection Agency of the State of Utah is investigating ePenzio and its affiliates. I am a victim of these companies and my complaint is now part of a hearing being held March 27th. The investigator that I am working with is Ao Pauga at the Utah Division of Consumer Protection Agency. I told Mr Pauga that there are more people in the same situation I am in. He stated that no one else can become involved in the current hearing but, for every 3-4 additional complaints they will investigate and if warranted hold additional hearings. Everyone that feels they have been fictimized by these companies needs to file a compliant with the Attorney General's office for the State of Utah. The website to file a complaint is: www.commerce.utah.gov You can also contact Ao Pauga at: [email protected] 801-530-6601 telephone 801-530-6001 fax I hope this information is helpful to all. Good luck
