This person attended one Vacation Network sales presentations being told from the very beginning, if you do not want to purchase this package, you are free to get up and leave the office after obtaining your promotional gift information. Just because she did not get up and leave, but stayed and listened to the sales people on her own, it's our fault she signed the contract. She was given ample time to read the contract, stating the terms and conditions quite clearly, and signed it. Booking vacations do not require a 6 month notice, unless you are trying to travel during a major holiday or special event. Which makes sense because lots of people are traveling at this time. Let's get the facts straight. If you are trying to travel during a peak season, then reservation requests are submitted 90 days in advance. All reservation request are followed up with a call from our reservationists informing the clients it was received, what happens is the clients never seem to get these "messages". This person requested a trip to New York City. There are only four resorts in and around the New York area. Resorts require space, lots of surface area. There is not a lot of surface area in New York. The one resort in New York is directly downtown, Manhattan, and is owned by timeshare owners who very rarely trade out their timeshares to anyone. Thus, it makes it very difficult to obtain accomodations here, no availability. However, Vacation Network, Inc. offered this person a hotel for stay, which she accepted. Five minuter later she called our corporate office back, changing her mind. This person also complains about the fees, fees that are all explained and outlined in the contract she signed. This person states she was told it would take an act of GOD to be released from the contract. What she failed to state was that there is a clause in the contract, quite plainly stating that the client agrees it cannot be canceled. She initialed next to this paragraph, and then signed the final copy. She also did not mention that Vacation Network did work with her and agreed to rewrite her original contract to a smaller package, saving her money. And we have left specific instructions with her to contact either the Reservations Manager or Customer Service Manager when she is ready to make further travel plans.
