I was signed to Advance LA in West Hollywood headed by Vance Peyton Miller, whom, I later found out works closely with John Robert Powers; a well-known crook in the talent agency world.
LET ME SAY THIS LOUD AND CLEAR:
Vance Peyton Miller is not a licensed agent. He is not SAG affliated, not a member of the ATA and not a member of the MTA.
He IS, however, a first class crook travelling around the country scamming young hopefuls of their money. Upfront fees are demanded and promises of milk and honey are made. Make a long story short:
This is a manipulative and dangerous individual who happens to be a convicted felon.
After booking several national commercials Vance Peyton Miller forged several checks made out to me for $15.000. After hearing a few stories about him, I went by his bank to see if the check would clear and it would not. Repeated attempts to get the money from him have been met with excuses such as "as soon as my production bond comes through" and "my accountant stole the money and skipped town".
I am currently in the process of filing all paperwork necessary to recoup my wages that were entrusted to him under the false pretenses of him being an agent, but were never forwarded to me. This is all fact. Documentation is in hand. Call the Labor Commissioner's office in San Francisco and ask to speak to Talent License division.
After a few heated arguments with him and his partner Terri Gammons, Vance threatened to, and I quote, "kick the living s**t out of me" if I did not shut my mouth and leave him alone about this.
Fortunately for me, however, my uncle is a detective for the LAPD who ran his name through the computer. I am not permitted to disclose detailed information about his previous convictions so I won't. Suffice to say, the guy is BAD, BAD NEWS and people need to be alerted. Hopefully, he'll be put out of business in the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, I am taking the case to court.

I recently saw an advertisement online for the hiring of an acting coach in Florida, and considering I just graduated with my degree for performance, I took the chance. I sat down with the guy, who introduced himself as "Matt", he told me he was a producer for the movies Super Troopers and Beerfest, and that he was looking for an acting coach to teach a 6 week course to kids on modeling an acting. In the final week, he said everyone was invited to fly out to L.A. and look for agents. The thing is, his ad was very vague, I didn't get a name until the meeting, and even when he responded to my inquiry about the job, he was still vague in his response.
During the meeting, he had a gentleman sitting with him with his laptop out and attempting to look professional. The paperwork he had in his hand was face-down on the table the entire time and he didn't once turn it over. I got a call later that night that I had received the job when I felt I had done a terrible interview, and a friend of mine and I went to a local restaurant to celebrate. While there, we searched for him on IMDB.com to get a feel for his resume'.
There is no "Matt" producer for either of those movies, just one character in Super Troopers.
I never got a last name, so for about an hour, I kept researching and finding nothing on anyone with the name Matt affiliated with Broken Lizard, the company that made those movies. I called the hotel where we met, asked about any events being held by any gentlemen with the name that were happening (since the "auditions" were the following day), and they said I couldn't do anything because I didn't have a last name.
On a hunch, I still had the number he called me from, and spending $8 on the reverse phonebook might have been the best thing I could've done after finding nothing for two hours. The name that came up was none other than Vance Peyton Miller, and it wasn't even a cell phone, it was a land-line, which is peculiar, because how exactly do you call from a land-line across the country in two hours?
I Googled him, found all of these reports of fraud and similar stories, and immediately called the hotel. "Matt" was Vance. He had a room at the hotel and had a forum rented for the following day. I didn't leave my name, but made mention of the fraudulent things the guy has done, and the hotel said they would investigate.
Thanks to your reports and $8 well spent, you guys saved me a lot of trouble and a pain in the butt. This was very much appreciated and I hope that if anyone else has a similar story to mine BEFORE they accept a job like this, they'll do their research on it as well.

Let me say this loud and clear:
Vance Peyton Miller is not a licensed agent. He is not SAG affiliated, not a member of the ATA and not a member of the MTA. Call the Labor Commissioner's office in San Francisco and ask to speak to the Talent License Division to verify this.
This man is a first class crook travelling around the country scamming young hopefuls of their money. A predator who preys on naive and vulnerable people. Upfront fees are demanded for "acting classes" and "coaching" while promises of milk and honey are made. A pathological liar and a sociopath.
Make a long story short:

However, when I caught wind of his poor reputation in the business, I decided to stop by his bank to see if the check would clear. It did not. Repeated attempts to retrieve my earnings from him have since been made and met with excuses like "as soon as my production bond comes through" and "my accountant stole the money and skipped town". I am currently in the process of filing all paperwork necessary to recoup my wages that were entrusted to him under the false pretenses of him being an agent, but were never forwarded to me. Countless people have posted similar experiences with this individual and his company.

Vance Peyton Miller is a highly manipulative and dangerous individual who happens to be a convicted felon. Avoid him at all costs. He is a ruthless and exploitative cokehead looking for easy money and easy woman. He is also violent and unreliable.
