I recently order part needed for restoring my antique Steinway piano.  Of the four parts ordered, only one was satifactory.  Of the others, one part broke, another was just not a quality part although it was at least similar to the advertised item, and the last part was not even close to the part shown on their websites.  These last to parts averaged $45 each.

The last part was just some super cheap wood that was not even similar to the part I ordered  The part I wanted was a pair of turned spindles used to support the piano's pedal assembly.  What I got were two unturned, square 'sticks' that were not even the same size.  These sticks had little shaping but were not what I needed.

I emailed the company asking what the deal was.  They didn't understand what I got, but said they'd check with the wharehouse and see if the parts they had were correct.

As of this posting, I've never heard back about that, or anything.  So I requested a Return Merchandise Authoriztion number, which they provided.  I shipped the parts back, and have not heard anything since.  No refund, no questions, nothing.

I guess maybe they think I sent back some garbage I made, thinking I'm trying to rip them off.  Maybe they sent me the garbage so they could make that claim!  Who knows, and it's impossible to tell since they haven't sent me any further information..

Buyer beware.

I have a similar experience with them.

I ordered a grand piano cover from Vanda King for about $200.

First they sent a vinyl cover instead of Mackintosh. I returned it.

Second was in wrong color and wrong dimensions. Returned that one as well.

Third one was relatively better in size but the slits were 4 inches off so I couldn't fold the lid. After two months of train of failures I didn't want to deal with them anymore and I paid a local tailor who knows what he's doing $100 and got it fixed.

Also, in the last package they accidentally sent me a print out of the correspondence the sales dept. had with the factory about my complaints/requests; I think it was very unprofessional and rude.

After I told them about my dissatiscfaction they told me that they sell a lot of those covers and nobody complained before. They also tried to argue that the cover was made correctly and that the purpose of the slits on the cover is not folding the lid without taking the cover off but to have access to fallboard only. Did they ever examine an original Baldwin or Steinway cover?

I read these reports before I decided to buy the cover from them. I didn't believe these reviews back then. I hope you don't make the same mistake.

I ordered a water-repellent piano cover from Vanda King. When I received it, I disliked its color and decided to return it and agreed to pay restocking fee & shipping fee. After I received the RAN, I changed my mind and decided to keep it since I have gotten used to its color.

About 1 week later, my wife found this water-repellent is actually not water repellent due to its sewing holes. My wife contacted Vanda king and sent them photos showing how water going through these sewing holes. Since this is a defect, we asked for a shipping-free RAN and full refund. They sent such a RAN to us. We used it to send the piano cover back. After they received it, they told us that we still need to pay restocking fee and shipping fee. Our point is we only need to pay these fees if there is no defect. So, we are asking a full refund to this item.  They fighted back and said we just wanted to return this piano cover since we thought it was ugly.  Their logic is: since we tried to refund it due to unsatisfied color, we can not get a full refund even a defect is found.

We are reasonalbe people.  When we decided to return it due to "ugly" color, we agreed to pay these fees.  But that does not mean we want to pay these fees even a defect is found. So far, we did not get anything from this merchant yet.

When you decide to order anything from Vanda King, please be cautious.....  Unless you 100% sure you see the product from other place and you 100% like it, do not order anything from Vanda King.

I most certainly did NOT order the wrong part.  The part number for what I recieved was written on the packaging, and matched exactly the number for the part I wanted as shown on the website.  That an error occurred is obvious.  Who's?  Maybe their warehouse, who knows, but I ordered the part using their website's shopping cart.  That disconnects me from entering a part number, their site does that for you like all good shopping carts.

The picture on the website is correct.  The part I got wasn't even close.  The part I got had packaging with the correct part number written on it.  Maybe I did that somehow..  I would have gladly exchanged for the correct item, but they weren't helpful and I had a deadline to get the part so it could go to the refinishers.

All in all, they dropped the ball.

The graphics of the parts this customer ordered are taken directly from the Schaff catalog and are indeed shown correctly on our website.  Its clear that the customer ordered the wrong item for his particular piano.  Novice piano technicians who are not sure if they are ordering the correct parts can call our toll free number or email us for help.  We have a full time staff who will answer any queries regarding our products.

Regarding the return of his money:  His parts were delivered back to the Schaff factory on Wed. May 18th,  2011, and when the factory notified us, he was credited back his money on May 25th,  2011.  (5 business days later).

The customer (David Lane) has placed several satisfactory orders with us.... Our business office also received a fax on the very same day as his posting, from a person with the same last name, (Daniel Lane) telling us about this listing and that we could have the listing removed if we paid a fee.  The fax is available for anyone who would like to see it.
