Orange,#2Consumer Suggestion
Mon, October 09, 2006
like many others I have been round and round with Vanderbilt but still have a mortgage to pay and them to deal with until maybe but doubt it they will sell my account.. Anyway I have three suggestions: First File a complaint with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) look it up online it is free and then the Feds will investigate the problem. Any company that defrauds or uses fraudalent means to collect ANY debt (legal or not legal debt) is against the law. It is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act. Second Record and Save these phone calls .. ---- has cheap phone recorders. YOU dont have to tell them it is being recorded OR you can tell them before you hang up... Third Nothing is true unless it is in writing! tell them SEND me this in writing. They wont cause they know you will have them then... IF you do get a recorded conversation, like I did send them a certified letter stating you intend to file under the Fair Debt Collections Act that the caller harassed you, deameand or whatever the problem, IT IS ILLEGAL. I promises you Vanderbilts Attorney will be calling you.. They called me two days after receiving my letter... The Attorney wanted to settle once he was able to hear the recording. They have not called my house since, and I have even been late! I sent them a certified letter stating Not to call my house to communicate ONLY thru written correspondence in which they have to comply. If you send it certified you have a copy that someone picked it up so there is no OOps we never got it type letters. The Letter is good for one year. So every year you have to send them another one but it is well worth it. Please email or send written correspondence to me if you wish i will address it best I can pertaiing to what I have dealt with, with this company.
