To whom it may concern,                                                         Claim #6395412

I am writing to object to the treatment of my sister-in-law with respect to her cancellation of a trip to Ireland scheduled for May 27, 2017. Information sent to her requested she purchase your “Cancel for any reason” trip insurance, which she did.

She was in contact with Irene Strychalski who was the agent for this trip thru the STRYCHALSKI GROUP in Florida and who was also a member of the tour. She advised Irene that she was sick with the flu. She was advised by Irene Strychalski to call and cancel her participation in the trip because Irene did not want her to infect the other members of the tour. She did call and cancel on May 23, 2017.

When we moved her to our home in Pennsylvania in September, 2017, we filed the request for the refund of monies paid for this trip on her behalf. I filled out all the forms requested and confirmed with Robert of Vantage Deluxe World Travel, that they had a note on file from Irene Strychalski, the travel agent, stating that she was sick with the Flu and she had advised her customer to call the company and cancel.

We are told by Trip Mate that because she did not see her doctor, she will only be given a voucher for future travel which we have received.

My sister-in-law is 80 and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia.

I request that she be given a refund of the monies she paid for this trip because neither Irene Strychalski, the travel agent nor the company felt it was important enough to tell this old lady her she needed a doctor's note for this cancellation. I would think that would be the responsibility of the booking agent to inform this old lady of what was required. She knew it was the Flu as she had had it in the past. She was sick for about 6-7 days before it went away. If she had been advised that she needed to see her doctor for a slip stating she was ill, she would have done so.

She is now in a Memory Care Unit and will never be able to travel internationally ever again. The travel voucher she received is non-transferable, non-refundable and only good for 1 year.

When I talk to Vantage Deluxe World Travel they place the responsibility for this decision on Trip Mate and visa versa.  What a rip off. Vantage Deluxe World Travel should be ashamed of themselves. What way is this to treat a customer who had traveled several times with them in the past?

This letter was sent to the appeals department but I never received a reply.
