I have signed up for Verizon FIOS TV and am under a bundled billing package. I have had multiple disputes with Verizon billing about the exorbitant charges on my bill over the past few months. I finally just gave up on getting it reduced and just accepted the fact that I was another victim of Cable Company Ripoff artists.

Then they called me and talked for some time on the phone explaining that I could get 100 additional channels for 90 days free and also the Movie Package for 90 days free. I would not be charged until October 6th 2009 at which time I could keep it or cancel with no changes, charges of any kind.

So I received my bill from Verizon for August and was shocked to see a number of charges with my total bill being increased by $72.00 + . When I called about these charges I started getting all kinds of double talk about the individual charges for HBO and Showtime and this and that. I said that I was not supposed to be charged until October and then it was suppose to be $15.00 for the Movie Package if I kept it and $35.00 for the additional 100 channels if I kept them. But no charge for 90 days.

Oh I don't know why anyone would have told you that the Verizon rep said. Maybe because they lied to me I said. We went back and forth and I told them to remove the two items and take off the charges. She said that because I had changed my package she could not do that. I told her that I did not change anything. This was supposed to be a free trial & nothing more.

Oh well you changed your package she said. I got this kind of stupid reasoning constantly during the conversation and could get nowhere with this obstinate person. It was all my fault and therefore I was going to have to pay them their outrageous charges. I have decided to look into another provider but have little hope of finding any better or honest company to deal with.

The same type of scenario plays out now and then with the Internet, Cell Phone and Telephone charges. I am living on Social Security and am too ill to work (not that anyone would hire me due to prevalent age prejudice in this country), and I have tried to explain to them that I cannot afford the high charges but they turn a deaf ear.

I wish to file a complaint against Verizon for these scams they practice on their existing customers. Regardless of what Consumer Reports has to say about how wonderful Verizon is, in my opinion they are just as underhanded and without honor as all the rest of the companies ripping people off.
