Lucky enough to get DSL here in HB back in 1999. FIOS fiber lines installed April 2006 at this same apartment. It cooks ! My AMEX promotional offer expired too. Verizon doubled the amount in monthly discounts till used up. Maybe because I asked for help instead of bitching to the employee. Did not display my frustration even once. Ever ask the person where they are located, and just shoot the SH*T for a minute? I always do. Try it please. So many of these ripoffreport entries sound like the consumer handed the problem by adding a layer of uncalled for crap to the situation. Bet they don't know what else they are eating if they do this in restaurants too ! Yea, you are cool and superior. So you think. Check that burger before the first bite Mr. or Mrs. Important. Kevin

Hi Toni, I was in the same dilemma as you. Verizon is trying to avoid making good on all those gift card promises. How do I know they are? They have removed all literature from their website regarding the promotions AND contact information for American Express so you cannot verify if you have a giftcard coming (they don't want you to check). In addition, if you call a customer service rep, they have a "script" or notecard on how to respond to customers wanting their giftcards. In the script, they try very hard to say your not getting one and the offer is expired. They also will say, all cards have already been shipped out so they are hoping you will just let it go. So comine "all cards have been shipped out" with the fact that they removed the contact numbers for you to actually VERIFY if your card was ever ordered...and we have the makings of an advertising scam. You have two legal options in light of this scandal: 1) You can cancel your service with Verizon, citing breach of contract on their behalf and legally they cannot charge you early termination fees, because they broke your original sign up agreement. 2) You can spend over 8 hours on the phone with Verizon, getting thrown all around the customer service department and force them (by threatening legal recourse) to credit your account for the $200 you are due. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, please persist in reclaiming your money, as you are a true patriot anytime you stand up for the law in the face of a big gorilla (Verizon). Don't accept "your not getting it", this attitude from Verizon is anti-american, illegal, and unacceptable. -Steve from California
