I purchased an Iphone4 from Verizon Wireless back in August of 2011. I used the phone flawlessly for 5 months. In January my phone started saying voice control for no reason and the phone would not respond due to the menu button thinking it was depressed the entire time. Well i contacted Verizion Wireless and they said i should turn it back in and get a replacement due to the manufacturers warranty still being in place.
So i did. They asked me if the phone had ever had any physical or water damage and of course i said no because the phone had never seen either. Well i received my replacement phone and mailed back in the old broken phone of which the menu button was the issue. I then notice on my next month bill there is a charge for $299.00 for equipment. I never agreed to this charge first of all, and my replacement price through my warranty plan would of only been $200.00(of which i pay $11.00 a month).
Verizon swears up and down that the phone had water damage and i know for a fact it did not. They keep telling me they will send a picture of the damaged phone and i have still not see this. I then suggested a few other options of which they said i had no choice but to pay the $299.00. This is a RIP OFF!! I should of been given options.
I should of been offered my warranty option since it was cheaper!
I should of been advised to have it looked at inside a local store to ensure no damage!
I should not have to pay $299.00 when i signed nothing saying i would!
I should of been given the option to upgrade to the new iphone4s instead of sinking $300.00 into an older model phone.
This matter is not of a major enough financial obligation to involve an attorney but if it had been i would of won. This is not customer service this is customer disservice! This is a warning for someone that has the same issue. Be very careful on how you deal with Verzion. They don't care about you or your business.
