All i can say is WOW, totally shocked at what i encountered . My iphone 4s broke due to water damage, so i had to shell out $350 to get a replacement and use a upgrade from my family plan. Ok understandable (if you can call it normal) debauchery that we have to put up with nowdays with cell phone companys.  WHAT MY REVIEW IS ABOUT is that when i got my new iphone 4S which came out factory sealed and in a new box(that did not state it was a refurbished model). The verizon guy uploaded my contacts and signed me into my account and email at the store.

I left the store and went home and then before i loaded anything onto my iphone from my backed up computer files, i was just poking around the notes app on the phone and saw a note dating back 254 days with a name and number that i am not familair with. I just bought what i though was a new phone That Morning!!! I headed back to the store and spoke with a sales rep who denied it to the end.

Then a manager who also denied everything and tried to make excuses as to why there was a note, (maybe they tested the phone in the factory, maybe its a note from your icloud) and then after of about 10 min of back and forth in ordre to satisfy me he got a new phone from the back . So while he was trying to prove his point that they Dont Sell USED stuff he said he would load the phone the exact way that they did this morning and see if the note would show up on the new phone. When he tried the same way in the morning , no such luck .

You CANNOT Load saved notes without a @me.com account which i do not have!!!. Throughout the whole incident I kept calling him out on it and finally after i got my new(real new) phone he admitted to me that i was correct and the phone was refurbished. I told him to make sure his suppliers are more careful next time.  VERY SUPRISED AND SHOCKED AT WHAT HAPPEND AND WOULD NOT EXPECT THIS FROM A VERIZON STORE. I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS COUNTRY WIDE OR AND ISOLATED INCIDENT AT THIS STORE ALONE. BUT I WILL NOT BE HEADING BACK TO THIS STORE AND I SUGGEST EVERYONE THAT DOES GO THERE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT DEALING WITH THEM!!!!

It is a nationwide issue and it is not just Verizon - every wireless company will give you a refurbished (used) phone as a replacement. Until more consumers like yourself start demanding a new device, the practice will continue and the companies will continue to make profits from used devices (through the insurance(Joke) premiums and deductibles). What you received wasn't even refurbished - a refurbished device would have been completely wiped out and the OS would have been reinstalled with no information available from the previous owner.

Some companies do truly refurbish the returned defective devices and they work great at a lower cost to the consumer. I have purchased several with great results.  It will take many more consumers like you to change the practice.  Keep up the demand!
