Verizon has allowed ESBI to bill my phone bill $13.73 for a service called "My Info Guard", a supposed ID theft protection for my voice mail. My problem is, I have never heard of ESBI or "My Info Guard" until I saw my bill. I did not authorize it, ask for it, request it, etc.

I have emailed Verizon and will be interested in what they say. I have read several other past reports on this site and others for similar problems with Verizon and ESBI.

I do know that I am prepared to go to the Indiana Attorny General and other federal agencies with this problem if it does not get fixed.

I contacted Verizon about this situation and was informed by Verizon that they could not adjust my bill nor intervene in this matter in any as they were not the provider of this service. I was told I would have to take this up with ESBI directly. A call to ESBI was then made and I was informed that I had signed up for their service on a website. They would not tell me what website, or when I signed up though. After much complaining, I was finally told that the now two months of bills would be credited. I was given a confirmation number for this, so I will see what comes of it. I have yet to pay and will not pay any of the ESBI charges on my bill, so hopefully the credit comes through. I will definitely place a block on my number when this over.

This is not authorized by verizon. Verizon bills for other companies which are not all fraud. If you have not authorized this company to bill you then call verizon your local business office number is located on page 2 of any phone bill. Advise the rep that you have been "crammed" and you want the charges recoursed-which means adjusted off your bill and sent back to that company. We as employees report these companies. Once complaints get high we eventually will no longer bill for those companies anymore. Also request a miscellanous charge block to be added it's free & in the future prevents other companies from billing with Verizon. Can take 1 full bill cycle to become effective. I have personally seen these companies scamming by when you fill out surveys for winning gift cards/shopping sprees etc. and when you buy some of the items such as books and such it asks for your telephone number and in small print tells you that you are subscribing to this service. This I'm sure is not the only way these companies get your info but it's one I personally have noticed since I myself almost fell victim
