Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
FIRST OFF LET ME SAY ALL OF THIS CAME FROM MANY SOURCES AS WELL AS MY OWN TIME WORKING AT THIS LOCATION. SO I HAVE SEEN IT ALL FIRST HAND. I HAVE BEEN IN AUTOMOTIVE FOR SOMETIME NOW AND NEVER HAVE I SEEN THIS!!!! WELL AT LEAST NOT THIS BAD ILL START WITH MY OWN EXAMPLES THEN GO ON TO OTHERS.......

I STARTED WORKING FOR VISALIA MIDAS ON A MONDAY MORNING AND BY TUESDAY I FELT I NEEDED TO FIND ANOTHER JOB ASAP. AS I SAW IT EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER WAS BEING RIPPED OFF AND SOLD SOMETHING THEY DIDNT NEED . THEY DO THIS TO MAKE THE BOOKS AT LEAST 80% PROFIT PER DAY AFTER LABOR AND ALL IS PAID. PARTS ARE MARKED UP 3.5 TIMES THE ORIGINAL COST IF NOT MORE ON EVERY SALE.

AS A CUSTOMER ITS EASY TO THINK IT A GOOD SHOP DUE TO THE FACT THEY ALWAYS HAVE CARS IN THE BAYS. HOWEVER 50% OF THEM ARE COMEBACKS, WORK PERFORMED PRIOR THAT WAS NOT DONE CORRECT THE FIRST TIME. WHEN A CUSTOMER WOULD COMEBACK THE SERVICE WRITER WOULD SIMPLY STATE THAT PROBLEM SIMPLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ARE REPAIRS AND IF YOU PAY A DEALER TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAY IT WAS CAUSED BY US THEN WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU..... WHAT TAKE IT TO THE DEALER I DIDNT WANT TO PAY TOP DOLLER IN THE FIRST PLACE NOW I HALF TO PAY THE DEALER AND MIDAS SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE!!!!! MOST COMMON THING I HERD FROM CUSTOMERS AS THEY STORMED OUT THE DOOR.

AS I SEE IT THE PROBLEM STARTS AT THE TOP SEEMS HOW THE SHOP IS MANAGED BY THE OWNER HIM SELF. AS I LOOK BACK ONE CAR STICKS OUT MIDAS HAD CALLED A CUSTOMER TO SELL A MUFFLER AS WELL AS $5600 DOLLERS OF OTHER REPAIRS WHEN EMPLOYES ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE ONE ON THE CAR THE SERVICE WRITTER STATED IT WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL MUFFLER IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

THE BIG SELLER AT MIDAS WAS THE LIFE TIME BRAKE PACKAGE THEY TRY TO SELL THIS ON EVERY BRAKE JOB. MOST PEOPLE THINK LIFETIME BRAKES COOL NEVER PAY FOR BRAKES AGAIN?...... WRONG NOT HERE I SAW PEOPLE COMING IN WITH LIFE TIME BRAKES GETTING CHARGED MORE THEN THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PACKAGE. THEY WOULD SIMPLY SELL SOMETHING MORE ROTORS, WHEEL CYLINDERS MASTER CYLINDERS REAR BRAKE CLEANINGS ECT ECT ECT.... LET ME STATE HERE I DO BRAKES ON MY CAR ONCE A YEAR FRONT AND REAR COST ME UNDER $50.00 TOTAL MAYBE $100 IF I NEED TO REPLACE MY DRUMS OR ROTORS WITH A BRAKE FLUSH.

I ALSO AFTER PARTING WAYS WITH MIDAS RAN IN TO AN OLDER COUPLE IN A FOOD STORE AS I WAS STANDING IN LINE. AFTER A FEW MIN IN LINE AND CHATING WE WENT ON TO TALK ABOUT VISALIA MIDAS AND HOW THEY WENT TO GET SOME BRAKES DONE.

THEY STATED AFTER TWO DAYS OF HAVEING THE CAR THEY PICKED IT UP. HOWEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STILL GOING UP AND DOWN WHEN BRAKEING. THIS BEING WHAT THEY TOOK IT IN FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MIDAS AND LEFT. TWO HOURS LATER A PHONE CALL FROM MIDAS. THEY WANTED TO TURN THE REAR DRUMS FOR $55 DOLLARS PER DRUM AND REINSTALL REAR BRAKE PADS. NOT KNOWING ANY BETTER THEY APPROVED AND PICKED THE CAR UP LATER THAT NIGHT. THE BILL NOT AT $836.21 WOW FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND TURN DOWN SOME DRUMS FOR $800 BUCKS WHAT A DEAL BUT IN THE END THEY DID GIVE THEM THE SENIOR DISCOUNT HAHA LOL .... JUST ONE EXAMPLE I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT I THINK THIS STATES THE POINT

THE PAY AT THIS SHOP IS SO LOW THEY HIRE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO AUTOMOTIVE EXP. WHAT SO EVER. THEY DO HAVE SOME GOOD MECHANICS BUT WHATS SOLD IS UP TO THE MANAGER AND SEVICE WRITTER. BUT IN THE END ITS ALL ABOUT MAKEING 80% PROFIT IF THE SERVICE WRITTER GETS LOWER HE WILL BE DISMISED. . . . . . . . . .

ALSO THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF RIP OFF CHECK SCEAM THEY WILL TAKE PAYMENTS OVER A THREE MONTH LENGTH. TAKEING THREE OR FOUR CHECKS AT THE TIME OF PURCH.. AND POST DATEING THEM. SOUNDS GOOD HOWEVER THEY RUN ALL THREE CHECKS THROUGH A CHECKING SYSTEM THAT DAY IF THE CHECK WONT CLEAR COME THE NEXT DUE DATE RATHER THEN THEM TAKEING THE HIT THE CHECKING COMPANY PAYS THEM THEN TAKES THE CONSUMER TO COLLECTIONS ..... NO MORE BOUNCE CHECKS FROM THE BANK JUST COLLECTIONS AND A BAD CREDIT REPORT WHAT A DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will start by introducing my self, my name is Chris Richards. The above mentioned is my father Michael Richards, he is indeed the owner of the Midas in Visalia California. Not only is he the owner but he is the operator as well. First off I invite any one with questions to email me Chris, at [email protected] if you have any questions about any kind of auto repair you may need, or questions about this report. If you are reading this give us a chance to impress you with dealer quality repair at a lower cost. My dad has 35 years of automotive experiences and our technicians are some of the best in the valley, with each employee having an average of over 20 years experience as well. In this industry a company's reputation is everything. Visalia is a small town and we are well known in the city. We try to educate our clients by explaining any repairs that may be necessary on their vehicle before anything else. My father Mike takes each vehicle and the owner very personal and treats his clients like family. I go to school, and work with my dad full time. I can say I am proud of him and what he does and he is one of the most honest person I know. Anyone who really knows him would have similar feelings. I was  brought to be aware of this report when it surfaced and was very disappointed to hear about it. I am 28 years old and my dad Mike is 53.  Three years after the post I am glad to say we still have a strong client base. Word of mouth goes along way. My dad spent his years working his way to get to were he is, as he supported my mother, brother and sister. He has put in 12 hour days and 6 day weeks and continues too. I have a fairly good idea who wrote these comments, I will be the first to say working for my dad isn't easy, but being a customer of his, is. He triple checks everything, he is very involved, he does most major diagnostic work himself and he doesn't take kindly to laziness. He likes things done one way, the right way. This guy was most likely overwhelmed by the amount of work expected of him, as he said he was pondering quitting the second day. The accusations he makes are false. Our reputation speaks for itself, it's just a shame that any potential new client that searches us on Google may be misinformed and miss out on an opportunity to meet myself and my family, as well as receive great service.

"truthteller" do not be bitter towards Midas because you no longer work there. Leaving the shop has not earned you the right to slander the good name of Midas and the employees who work hard to support their families. 80% of Visalia Midas' customers are repeats and depend on us to maintain their vehicles. Visalia Midas has employees who have worked their five years and if the pay was so low, they would not have lasted this long. There are good reasons why they are still there. I have been there for three years and have never seen an owner educate his employees so much as well as the customers. "truthteller," I highly recommend you update and change your remarks.

I just have to put on record how offended I am concerning this persons comments and remarks. I am a mechanic at Midas in Visalia. I have more than 15 yrs. experience in the automotive industry. I have been a glorified lube tech. to shop foreman to store manager. A person can not get to those positions having no experience in the industry. This persons remarks are very insulting to me. I pride myself in the knowledge and experience I have. If I work on a vehicle my name and reputation goes on it. I take my reputation seriously. While a couple "comebacks" sometimes happen they are always corrected promptly. After all we are all human and are subject to small mistakes. While I have been at Midas for only a short time (7 months) I have never seen or heard of any of this persons accusations. Any body over the age of 10 can tell you that there are two sides to every story. This persons stories are not only one sided, but slanted to fit his needs. I am deeply offended form this persons remarks against my employer, fellow co-workers and myself. I hope this person reads, rethinks, and makes amends for his comments/remarks.

Satisfied Customer for 15 years - 12 vehicles professionally serviced with reasonable prices.

I am a very happy customer of the Visalia Midas where I have had 12 vehicles serviced for the past 15 years. I find Mike and his staff to be professional in dealing with my whole family. My wife generally take the vehicles in for repairs or service and she is treated with respect. I trust Mike to deal with my wife and 3 college children the same as he treats me. All the staff seem friendly and smile at us when we enter the facility. The prices are lower than the Dealer shop prices after the warranties expire and prices are comparable to other general repair shops. We have observed that the service time is always a priority with Mike and his staff. The parts pricing is the same as other shops charge for like items. I have read the comments from this person and would consider him or her to be a vengeful past employee. This person is apparently young and immature. Did I understand the person only showed up for 1 or 2 days? I also notice all the misspellings and grammar errors in the complaint. If you post this type of non-factual information and attempt to defame the reputation of someone, the least you can do is use spell check on your computer. The person making the complaint may have placed themself in a bad position regarding California law and may want to evaluate having this complaint removed from this site. I did notice that the complainer used the name of Mike Richards and directly called this good business person a "cheat and low life." Once again, Midas has been a good shop for us and we will continue to use Midas and recommend our friends to use Midas in Visalia whenever their vehicles need servicing. Satisfied Customer for 15 years - 12 vehicles professionally serviced with reasonable prices.

BEST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD, APPAULED TO READ THE LIES IN THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE

Let me start by saying I'm a devout customer of the Midas in Visalia and I have been since I moved here 2 years ago. I got my car serviced for the first time, and was so impressed by the timely and accommodating service they offered. The owner himself, Mike Richards, greeted me and answered any questions I had on the spot. I told him I was new to town and shopping around for the best deal, and Mike told me that if I could find a better deal, to come back and he'd match it. Being a busy small business owner myself, I was happy and impressed to see a private owner willing to spend his busy time with the customers. Now each time I go into the store, Mike is quick to great me back in and thank me for my valued business. I myself am reaching higher up in age, which is what offended me even further in this article. I would consider myself more elderly than young, and I have never felt so taken care of in a business of repair. I fell upon this compilation of lies after I had recommended a good friend of mine to the Midas in Visalia. He was searching for the phone number on line when he fell upon this site, called me back and asked me what this was about. I saw this article and my jaw literally dropped, I was not going to allow someone, who was obviously bitter, to slander the good name of the Midas in Visalia. The fact that this "truthteller" or so he likes to call himself, would use such words as "low life" and immature diction such as repeated !!!!'s, just shows that he must be a young bitter employee. The fact that he is an employee made me even quicker to assume that he must've been one of those employees who likes to think he's worth more than he is, and because he can't walk all over the owner like a doormat, he was quick to leave and try and find work elsewhere. Being a small business owner, I've experience many employee's like this, who are quick to leave, and usually it has repercussions such as these slanderous articles All these "examples" of rip-off's are clearly misconstrued, if closely examined. First his comment that he can fix his own breaks for 50 perhaps 100 dollars at the most, is true yet ridiculous. Anyone can fix there own car for much cheaper than any automotive repair shop in the country. However, I personally do not know how to fix my own breaks which is why I bring my car into Midas Visalia in the First place! You are paying for a labor service to get your car fixed on top of parts. I do not know any business that doesn't work for a profit. Also, although I'm a small business owner, let me emphasize small business. I had a lot of work done on my car a while back, and my business wasn't doing its best. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to pay it all so midas offered me this 3 or 4 check deal the "truthteller" mentions. However what he FAILS to mention is the fact that you are told up front, that if you bounce the first check, they will then submit the rest. I successfully cleared my first check, and all the rest were submitted once a month as they told me they would. There is no scam there, they're just ensuring they're getting their money. The fact they even allow you to pay in a 4 month period is remarkable, and I've never even seen that offered anywhere else. So in closing, I just want to state this "truthteller" is obviously just a disgruntled employee, for whatever reason, and wanted to harm a good business out of his own bitterness. I wasn't going to let him do that without my voice being heard. As an older man and business owner, I was appalled to read these slanderous lies, and felt the need to intervene. So those who read this article, I recommend the Midas in Visalia, because you will find no better establishment, and Find out yourself how great their service this is! Sincerly, SmallBusinessOwner
