I bought a 37-inch Visio TV on 1/14/2012 at Walmart. The TV had a one-year warranty. On 1/24/12 the TV would not even turn on. I called Visio and was told that the warranty had expired. When I purchased the TV, the Walmart rep told me that they warrantied the TV for the first 90 days and the the warranty was covered by Visio, thus making the warranty good for 15 months.

When the TV broke and I called Visio the first person I spoke to agreed that the warranty was good for 15 months. The second Visio rep that that the warranty was for one year and they gave me a number to call to get the TV repaired. It took more than  two weeks for the TV to be repaired and the deal was that I had to pay $ 85 for the service call and that Visio would cover the parts.

The repairman got the TV fixed and it needed a new circuitboard. He told me that in a six-month period he had serviced at least 100 of the same model with the same problem. This problem had occurred so often that they had actually added a checkbox for the specific problem. It was called flash freeze. He said he felt confident that the TV would be fine and also said that if it broke again the TV was a lemon. The repair was warrantied for 90 days. Then in 80-something days the TV will not turn on again. I called Visio and they said that the repair cost split was a one-time thing but that they could sell me a new TV at a discount.

He tried to sell me a TV that had been bought by a retailer and returned because of overstock. The price he offered was $ 246.00 with a 90-day warranty. Maybe Visio could actually build a TV that lasted 90 days.

I strongly recommend that people not buy Visio TVs because they do not last and Visio does not care.
