Vitas Hospice The Kavorkian Of Hospices Torrance, California
My only sister became ill with breast cancer 3 1/2 years ago. She has been a fighter the entire time. After her most recent hospital stay, it was determined there was nothing they could do. She was given a few days to live and sent home on Hospice. The Vitas case worker came into the room at the hospital and told us about their company. None of which was true. We were told it was a Christian based company. If they are, I am the Pope! After a week of very professional nurses, it all ended. Vitas determined she was TO WELL for their service. They then began to drift toward giving her as little care as possible and keep her as nervous as possible. They had not planned on her living so long and treated her as if they were in a hurry for her to make her exit. They sent one nurse to check on her named JUDITH and she not only scared her by telling her to basically LET GO...but also hurt her physically inserting a cath that was too large. We asked many times for her not to be sent back...but she came any way. The company is poorly ran and seems to have a very low number of workers. Their poor care and lack of compassion is like nothing I have ever seen before! They will not give you all your insurance company says you are able to have ,a lie in your face about it...saying it was the PPO that is doing all these bad things and that their hands are tied. They offer syrup but give you vinager. Your loved one would get better care from under a bridge than by Vitas. They are there to collect the money...PERIOD! While they may have a few good nurses, some or only COMPANY people and could care less about your loved one. DO NOT leave your loved one in the care of these people. This all began in January. My sister is still alive (no thanks to Vitas) and I am looking for a new Hospice NOW!
