Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I ordered this service over the telephone. The equipment was sent to me in the mail. I had to connect the phone myself.Just recently the service had gotten real bad, all I could hear was static and no one on the receiving end could hear me. I called tech support and the person I spoke with just kept making me disconnect all kind of wires and reconnect them. He didn't know any more than I did. Finally I told him to cancel the service.

I was then told for the very first time that there would be a 39.99 disconnect fee. I told them I would not pay it, but unfortunately they had my credit card number and immediately withdrew the fee from my account.I wrote several letters requesting they credit my accound back the fee.My complaint was that never at any time was I told anything about this fee. Had I been told this I would not have ordered the service. As a matter of fact, I had canceled one time before and was not told at the time either anything about the fee, nor was I charged it.

I wrote the B.B.in Holmdel,S.C. and the Attorney General here in Baton Rouge. They both sent me a copy of the letter Vonage sent them, saying that that was the policy of the company.

I wrote the B.B.B. and the Attorney General both and told them, of course Vonage would not admit to any wrongdoing. I asked them what was the purpose of contacting them at all if they were just going to go by what they reply and let it go.I told them I thought that their position was to protect the consumer, not the people who were ripping off the consumer. I am 86 years old, and frankly I am tired of being ripped off.

Okay. Tell me where in the constitution and the bill of rights that it gives you the right to cancel a service contract with a business. Oh yeah... IT DOESN'T You have the privilege to enter in to and leave business dealings. This is a privilege granted and regulated by the government. They could take it away from you tomorrow and it would be perfectly legal.

Yes we do have the right to cancel service

Yes we do have the right to cancel service with vonage. Those are just fake commericals & fake custormers who say good things about vonage on t.v. If people don't want to use vonage, then that Is there choice. But vonage has no right to hold people hostage or steal our money.

This Is how vonage gets away with there consumer abuses

#4Consumer Comment

This Is how vonage gets away with there consumer abuses. People like ashley who defend them. Its ok for vonage or any other business to lie, cheat, steal, defraud people out of there money. But anyways this Is how they get away with consumer abuses. Vonage will continue to take advantage of people, until action Is taking. From the attorney general office of consumer affairs. Which BTW: Is suppose to be for the people not the business.

You do not have the RIGHT to cancel vonage. No where in our great constitution does it say ANYTHING about granting you the RIGHT to cancel service. We do NOT have ANY rights when it comes to property except the right to illegal search and seizure. I'm not defending vonage, I read their polices after coming to this site and they SUCK I would never get their service. I just hope people stay away from them after reading all these posts. My point is these people were not ripped off. They WILLINGLY signed up for service and agreed to the terms and conditions. You should always read the terms and conditions of anything you sign up for. Rude customer service =/= Stealing and bribing politicians.

Yes thay are and they have rude custormer service. And another thing when you try to cancel. They act like they can't hear you. We have the right to cancel service with vonage. People do not need to give them there checking account information, or debit card #. Because they will abuse you. I don't trust any business anymore after what vonage did. This Is how vonage Is able to stay In business buy taking money out of there account without permission. Then we have people like you defending them. I made a mistake of trying vonage. People need to ignore those fake commericals, & those fake custormers who claim vonage Is cheeper & better. Vonage has rude custormer service. I did not have a great experince from them. But we all learn from our mistakes.

Stealing?

#7Consumer Suggestion

They aren't stealing money from your checking accounts. They are simply following the contract that you agreed to when you signed up for service. Having read that contract in full now, only an idiot would ever sign up for their service to begin with.

Oh really we are a bunch of cry babies. No we are fed up with vonage & there consumer abusies. Then we get called a bunch of cry babies. Anyone who defends vonage must be an employee of there's. Vonage has no right to steal money from our checking accounts. Or try to hold us hostage. Things always has to be for the business satisfaction, what about consumers satisfaction. Vonage has rude custormer service to. And you two condone there behavior. The reason how vonage stays In business, they steal peoples money from there checking account.

You obviously gave Vonage your credit card number, they didn't make it up. You agreed to a termination fee and the agreement is clear as day on their web site, admit it, you did not read it. They just held you to your agreement and you are whining about it. Just admit you are wrong and take your medicine. Good grief, what a bunch of big babies.

The great and powerful vonage has paid off all the attorney generals in the country to ignore the abuses they hoist upon their customers. Vonage has it all figured out, they can rip people off who don't read the terms and conditions of their product, and they can do the by paying off all the attorney generals! Brilliant! And ridiculous.

The attorney general says they have to see a pattern of consumer abuses

#11Consumer Comment

Mon, May 11, 2009

The attorney general says they have to see a pattern of consumer abuses, before they can file a lawsuit agaisnt them. What a crock I am sure buy know they have received tons of complaints. The attorney general should look on this website, there Is a pattern of consumer abuses. Nearly 500 complaints logged on rip-off report sense 2004. Vonage must be In bed with the attorney general which Is, the reason why they will not take action. Rip-off report receives complaints on this website on a daily basis, If that Is not a pattern then I don't know what Is. Well you know how people do they claim these reports are false. I don't believe they are false.

Why would I lie about working for Vonage? Vonage sucks a*s and I would never get their service after reading all your complaints. I'm just pointing out that on the front page of their website right on the bottom it clearly states that there is an early disconnect fee. Believe me or not. I have a B.S. in Chemistry, and I work in a quality control lab. Prior to this I worked for 10 years in the Convience store and grocery industries. I'm just trying to help explain to people WHY these companies do these things. Is this disconnect fee a ripoff? Yes it is. It's a legal one though, as you agreed to it when you signed up for their service,

ASHELY WORKS FOR THE COMPANY

#13Consumer Suggestion

Sun, May 03, 2009

Ashely works for the company and she should be banned from this site. We all can look through the hole in her head and see that she is a stupid fool. NO COMPANY HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE MONEY FROM ANYONE'S ACCOUNT. VONAGE DID NOT HAVE THE 2 YEAR TERM AND CANCELLATION FEE WHEN I SIGNED UP. They just started this claim because so many people are leaving them, it is not surprising that dooshbag Ashley would LIE and say she does not work for them because THAT IS THE NUCLEUS FOR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH VONAGE, THEY ARE ALLLLLLLLLLLLL LIERS AND CROOKS!

I work in the dehydrated food industry as a chemist. I just have some knowledge of this industry as my spouse worked for sunrocket until they went bankrupt about three years ago. If everyone would just READ what they are signing up for they would see what a ripoff vonage is.

#15Consumer Comment

Sun, May 03, 2009

Vonage defrauding custormers for 5 years, & they still continue to rip custormers off. And the attorney general office nor the federal trade commission takes any actions. Then we have people like (ashley) defending them. She Is an employee she can deny It all she feels like. There Is complaint after complaint. The attorney generals office of consumer protection, does nothing.

I assure you i do not work for vonage. I was researching them after hearing all the bad things on this website. I went to their website and in black and white it states there is an early termination fee and an equipment fee. That right there made me not want to sign up for them and I went with a different phone set up. C'mon people, READ things before you sign up for them. This is right at the bottom of the front page of their website: " MONTHLY SERVICE FEE IS $24.99/MONTH AFTER 3 MONTHS. $9.95/MONTH SERVICE FEE OFFER VALID ON THE RESIDENTIAL UNLIMITED PLAN ONLY. NEW ADDITIONAL LINES ONLY. RATES EXCLUDE: BROADBAND SERVICE, REGULATORY AND ACTIVATION FEES AND CERTAIN OTHER CHARGES, EQUIPMENT, TAXES, & SHIPPING. A DISCONNECTION FEE OF $39.99 WILL APPLY FOR CANCELLATION BEFORE 2 YEARS. DISCONNECTION AND OTHER FEES REFUNDED FOR CUSTOMERS THAT QUALIFY FOR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. YOUR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE PERIOD AND BILLING START ON THE DATE OF YOUR ORDER. SEE DETAILS. UNLIMITED CALLING BASED ON NORMAL USAGE. INTERNATIONAL CALLS BILLED PER MINUTE. OFFER VALID IN US ONLY. See Terms of Service. ^Where available. The number transfer process takes approximately 10 business days from the time you confirm your transfer request. Alarms, TTY and other systems may not be compatible. Offers valid in the US only. Vonage 911 service operates differently than traditional 911. See www.vonage.com/911 for details. 2009 Vonage Marketing LLC. " Clearly indicating a disconnect fee.

Yes, please encourage people to commit fraud by blocking a payment they agreed to when they signed up. You realize that the termination fee and the rebate recovery fee won't go away? You'll just get turned over to collections and sued. Better advice? Read the terms of service of the product you are purchasing before you buy it.

I AGREE THEY ARE A RIPOFF!

#23Consumer Suggestion

Fri, May 01, 2009

What you should have done is came to this website and read that you should have cancelled your cc before you called Vonage. THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST AND DON'T LET THEM HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT. Call your bank immediately and block them from anymore charges. Tell everyone to change their cc or account info BEFORE calling vonage to cancel.
