I was casually looking for vehicles on www.sellmycar.com and came across a 2005 Honda Accord that looked like a deal $5,900 for a perfect vehicle with only 59,000 miles (this would be a great deal for a Honda). I contacted the seller and received this email:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in my car. I'm sory for the delayed response but I'm in Iraq right now and I'm very busy.
The total price for the 2005 Honda Accord EX is $5,900USD FIRM! I don't do trades and i will not negotiate the price.
I want to keep the car for me but I left in the military for a 3 years contract, So I decided to sell it.
A few words about the car:
- 2005 Honda Accord EX Sedan
- Mileage: 49,236
- Transmission: Automatic
- Exterior color: Black
- Interior color: Tan Leather
- Engine: 3.0L V6 SFI SOHC 24V
- VIN# 1HGCM66565A026354
The car is in perfect conditions, accident free, no scratches, no special marks, no need for repairs.
If you have any question please don't hesitate to reply but only if you shall understand and you won't make me loose time as it has already happened to me.
Thank you again for your interest.
Best Regards,

The first thing I did was check out the individuals name online. Seemed legit but they were from Wisconsin according to a newspaper article and were selling the car in Des Moines, Iowa. I decided to check around. This car was listed in every zip code I checked off the top of my head - New York, Nashville, Washington DC, LA, Chicago....I contacted the seller to see what "she" would say next. She sent the following email:
Hello again,
Before leaving United States, I prearranged the transaction with VPP (Vehicle Purchase Protection program offered by eBay). The car is in their warehouse in Orlando, FL ready for delivery.
You will have 10 days to test and inspect the car and to decide if you want to keep it or not.
So, if you are really interested in this deal I need the following details from you:
full name and address
shipping address
phone #
After all the required details will be provided I shall forward them to Ebay in order to proceed. eBay will contact you with all the details that you need to complete this deal and also to see that I'm covered by them as a legit seller.
Waiting your email with the requested details.
Respectfully,

At this point, I searched the internet, for this supposed "program" offered by Ebay and found the previous RipOff reports on this site. Thanks for the info for those who have posted previously and please, please do your research before buying online! I tend to be overly cautious because I'm aware that I can be naiive at times. If it's too good to be true...
God bless!
