I had a similar case with Walmart about returning a fishing rod that had broke 3 days after purchaseing it, had receipt but they told me they would send it off to see if warranty would cover it and they would not exchange it or return my money, i spoke with the salesperson in sporting goods and the manager on duty neither gave me the answer i wanted, well i brought my fishing rod home still broke got on computer went to walmarts site and emailed home office, to my surprize next day i had call from manager at my home store to bring it back, i did so and there was no questions or refusals and it was great to see same salesperson that had to give me my new rod, Keep up the good work Walmart so ill say email home office if you have problem with your local store.

A Quote from "T" the anonymous:
"Just find the same item (in any retail store) and buy the same brand in the same box with the same UPC (Universal Price Code - the stupid looking bar code on the box is the UPC code) just wait a few days and having put your broken item into the new box, take it with your receipt to the store and get a refund. Always use a credit (not debit)card so you can 'dispute' the charge if the store gets snotty with you."
Wow! How brilliant! Buy "the same atANY store"? OK...if you can call the 'Fraud Chick' a "whinney (sic) little moron", can I call you a deceptive, lying creep? I think that description of you has more credence than yours of Ms. Fraud Chick.
I guess in your rules of ethics the stores must comply to a higher standard than you do, eh?

Fraud Chick is obviously going to stick up for retail stores not the consumer. Probably she works for one of them. When you see her byline just skip over it as you already know she will just stick up for the merchant.
When you have some shoddy or broken piece of goods and you either can't find your receipt or it is past the store's return date you are NOT out of luck.
Just find the same item (in any retail store) and buy the same brand in the same box with the same UPC (Universal Price Code - the stupid looking bar code on the box is the UPC code) just wait a few days and having put your broken item into the new box, take it with your receipt to the store and get a refund. Always use a credit (not debit)card so you can 'dispute' the charge if the store gets snotty with you.
The card companies will come down on your side 98% of the time and reverse the charge, it does take up to 2 months but they do it.
You can see from some of the complaints above that stores are clearly just repackaging the broken crap and selling it to consumers who are so trusting that if the box is sealed they just take it home to later find it is missing parts, broken etc.
Hey Consumers - stop being sheep! Time to tell Wal-Mart and Target to drop dead, stand up for your rights and pay no attention to whinney little morons like Fraud Chick, she is just a shill for the retailers.

Yo, Scott and others, You really didn't read the original complaint... the consumer did all the things you suggested and was stonewalled by an arrogant, rude and lying manager. I'm sure this manager is aware of the rules, and he deliberatly
misled, lied and bullied the customer.
Yes, the customer was ripped off because this manager deliberately violated STATED COMPANY POLICY regarding returns, sale items and customer satisfaction. The store needs to make
good on all the points the customer complained about, and the manager needs to do two things: 1. Submit to a disciplinary process that invoves the customer, and 2. He needs to issue a written apology for his behavior.

I'm sorry you're having such a problem with Wal-mart, but you really didn't get ripped off. They should have sold you the ring at it's sale price in the first place, but after the sale is over, you're out of luck.
I worked at a Wal-mart for more than two years and for a year and a half of that time I worked behind the service desk. You have to realize that these people put up with a lot of complaining morons day in and day out, and yes sometimes that does make them act grouchy, but I know Wal-mart's policies and know that there is no rule about returning the same item
twice.
I myself bought a item in the electronics department and had to
return it not once, but three times. After I brought back the third one that didn't work they gladly gave me my money back. You just have to be polite, firm, and aware of the returns policy.
If you had your receipt you should have gotten your money back the second time you took in a scanner and you should have went to a Best Buy or Circuit City. They have better deals on that kind of stuff most of the time.

I'm confused, Bob, did you get over charged for something at Wal-Mart or did a 70 year old door greeter ask to check your receipt? You never say what has angered you.
I don't know who told you what the door greeters do, but I think they were pulling your leg. The door greeters are there as a security measure, not to check store pricing.
Also, the checkers don't price the merchandise. They simply run it over a scanner as quickly and efficiently as possible so the customer doesn't have to wait. If you have a problem with pricing, your beef is with the manager, assistant manager and the departmenmt manager who's department the item falls in.
Bob, I suggest you go into a store and get a complaint form from the service desk. The Wal-Mart Home Office follows up to each and every one of them. If you have the aversion to the stores as you say you do consider sending a friend to get the form for you.
If you don't want to look ignorant you may want to re-word your complaint and not cut and paste what you wrote here.
Good luck.

Wal-Mart SUCKS up here in Chicago too. They also have the same ugly return polices. They repackage obviously broken items and try and resell them.
Anything I buy there I open up and see if it's together. I would NOT buy anything that plugs in the wall or computer from them because of their known polices about not returning items. They also funnel all customers through one receipt checker (getto store mentality) to check their clerks for improper pricing checking. Yep they use "US" the customer to see if their chasers are ripping them off. I just hate this on a busy day you have to stand in line an extra 15 minutes. Wal-Mart is NOT Sears or Target or K-mart and they have very much different shopping polices. I forget every 5 years and go there and get rudely reminded why I next to never shop there. And YES it's against the law to price things cheaper and then try and charge you a higher price!

I'm not sure what you're wanting. You haven't been scammed. You're peeved because you had to follow store policy on a return and exchange and were probably embarrassed.
You also seemed cheesed that the ring you wanted couldn't be purchased at the price you wanted. You seem to think that since (according to your story and that is only alleged) that the ring was priced wrong that you should win the lottery. That's awfully greedy of you. You have lost money; you only didn't get an expensive ring for an obnoxiously low price.
Since you didn't LOSE on anything I question and suspect your motives for posting your story.
Sorry, I call them as I see them.
I don't know what your issue is, but it isn't what you posted. I suggest you get over it and leave this page to victims of SCAMS.
