Lasko Ceramic Heater Model 6410 advertised for $32 and register charged $40.  Didn't notice register receipt until I returned home ad called store...no manager available and Belinda "floor lady" checked and agreed price should have been $32.  Explained price had not made it to register yet....said to go by customer service with receipt at my convienance and would be credited $8.

Telephoned Customer Service today, October 8, 2010 and gentleman didn't know anythig and referred me to manager, Lois.  (Belinda was off)  Had to explain whole scenerio again and she agreed price should have been $32 instead of $40 as charged.  Her explanation was the items were mispaced on the shelf over the wrong advertised price .... hmmm - a drifferent story as what Belinda had given me.

This "bait and switch" tactic, whether an innocent mistake or not, is costing unsuspectig consumers millions.  Since I had purchased other items with the heater, I never noticed the discrepency until I returned home and just happened to notice the receipt.

I haven't returned to the store yet, but I most likely will have to explain the whole scenario again to someone....just wanted someone to know....I did email Wal-mart about this so they would be aware of it.

Suggestion to not be overcharged

I have been to Wal- Mart often enough to know that a huge amount of mistakes are made all the time and people get overcharged.  Be very agressive to slow down the cashiers and don't let them start scanning the next coustomers merchandise until you check your recipt.

Also only buy a few items at a time and add up the cost and tax.  This slows down the process but you don't get overcharged and believe 99% of mistakes or on the stores favor.

Was the item sold to you at a higher price then advertised, or was the item simply misplaced on the shelf?

Certainly it is expected that a percentage of items in a Walmart or any store can be misplaced. So does this mean they owe you something? I mean why not put a plasma TV on that shelf and then claim they must sell it to you for $32.00... or it is bait and switch?

All I can conclude from this report, is YOU failed to check what you were charged at the time of purchase..when most consumers would check before they leave the store. If you had noticed this at the register..it could have been solved there. Sometimes they may even give you a discount rather then deal with the petty nonsense people who think they are entitled to everything and have no regard for others, or understand items get misplaced in a big giant busy store.

Do you really think Walmart was not aware that some items get misplaced? Do you really think your email will change the system? Maybe it would be better if everything was locked up..then the careless disrespectful customers would not be able to put items in the wrong place or open stuff up in the store etc.
