Sales tax 1 and 2 I understand. Sales Tax 4 is an additional 2% tax for a whopping total sales tax of 15%! This is totally deceptive for Wal-Mart shoppers. None of the other stores that I have already mentioned charge sales tax 4. Additionally, I recently purchased honeycrisp apples at a normal price of $2.99 per pound at a Kroger Store. Wal-Mart at Shackleford Crossing charges $3.68 per pound for honeycrisp apples. Historically, Wal-Mart is the cheapest choice for grocery buyers. How many people would continue to shop there if they knew that they were paying 15% in sales tax.

I want to know why the Wal-Mart Store located at Shackleford Crossing in Little Rock, AR is charging a third sales tax called tax 4 at 2%.  I shop all of the stores located in Benton, Bryant, Little Rock, North Little Rock and Jacksonville. The store at the Shackleford Road Little Rock is the only one that charges this tax.  When yo add all three together, the discounted chain store giant is charging 15% in sales tax.  Additionally, their prices are about 50-75% higher than non Wal-Mart grocery stores.  For instance, I recently purchased honeycrisp apples from the Kroger Grocery Store at $2.99 per pound.  The Shackleford Road Wal-Mart charges $3.68 per pound for honey crisp apples.  What can we do?  I want to be heard!

Colorado,
How about backing up your claims by copying your Walmart receipt into your report?

If you don't know how to do this, ask a neighborhood 3rd grader for help.

You claim you're paying 15% total sales tax on your purchase.  NOT likely.  The store lists all the different taxes on different classes of items and any local taxes.  It may also include taxes for two local jurisdictions when a store overlaps two taxing authorities.  Your claim, if accurate, would impose a tax of $15 on a $100 purchase.  Highly doubtful. Those separate taxes shown are NOT additive, they apply to specific purchases. My latest Walmart receipt shows Tax 1 6.36%,  Tax 2 3.460% and Tax 5 2.900%.  Guess that would mean there's also a Tax 4..go figure.  The total purchase was for $72.27 and the TOTAL tax was $3.18.  If your method of figuring was correct the tax rate would have been 12.72% and the tax would be $9.19. See where your rant goes wrong?

What did Walmart management say about the taxes?  You did ask, right?  Oh you didn't, you just bi***ed on Ripoff Report.  Why would any store charge taxes they aren't authorized to collect and risk heavy fines and having to refund all the tax collected?  Your complaint is really unbelievable.

What other prices at Walmart, besides "Honey Crisp Apples" are "50% to 75%" higher? You do know, don't you that different stores have different size packages of goods and it's the price per ounce, pound that matters.  Cite a few examples, using the same size units of Walmart's prices being 50-75% higher.  I shop there weekly and it's simply untrue.

Post that receipt here and I'll help you inerpret it and prove you're DEAD WRONG.
