Be careful when buying auto batteries at the Wal Mart Stores as there can be a big price difference between Wal Mart stores right in the same town.

I purchased a battery for my van at the Trenton Avenue Walmart Store in Findlay, Ohio

2 days later I went to the Tiffin Avenue Walmart Store in Findlay to do some other shopping and was in the auto department looking at other stuff and went by the auto batteries and realized the price at the Tiffin Avenue Walmart store was $6 less than what I paid at the Trenton Avenue Walmart for the same make and model of auto battery.

When I checked out for the other things I had purchased I asked the cashier on their policy of price differences between stores. She was not sure but said she thought that the stores had different prices due to what area they were in and if there was any competition or not in the nearby area. She said to ask at the service desk for more info than she could provide.

I decided to go back to the Trenton Avenue Walmart store and went to their Service desk this morning and ask the lady there about their policy on price differences between Walmart stores.

She told me they do not honor price differences between Walmart stores.

She said I could bring the battery in and get a refund and go to the other store and buy theirs, but I said I would not take the time to do that because they are greedy and won't refund the price difference. Besides how would I get to the other walmart with no battery? I guess the lady was not really thinking this morning.

The 2 stores here in Findlay are only a few miles apart.

Does not seem right to make things higher at one store than the other store in town.

I guess they feel they can rip off the consumer that does not check prices at both Walmart stores before buying

Plain and simple, I will not shop at Walmart in Findlay anymore, and everyone else should boycott the Walmarts here too for ripping off their customers with price diffrences on the exact same product between stores here in town.

My husband is in retail and one of the biggest reasons a store will be higher in the declining areas and lower in the more up scale end of town comes down to theft. If the store has to hire more security, put up more cameras, hire more staff in the stores to check on those that are shoplifting, clean up messes from children that are out of control(breaking things, etc), clean up the bathrooms because the customers just throw towels on the floor, etc...... let's face it, the cost of all this (and it is a HUGE cost) then they pass that cost onto the consumer. So think about it the next time you see children breaking things and parents just shrugging their shoulders instead of making junior pay for it, the next time you do not clean up after yourself in the snack area, the next time you just leave the cart in the middle of the parking lot. Remember this post, WE as the consumer PAY for it with higher prices.

I live between ottawa and findlay so I've shopped at both findlay locations and the ottawa location. I too see the price differences and wonder why walmart does this (especially since the two stores are really not that far away from eachother), but be warned that if you ever wonder over to the Ottawa walmart you will see that their prices are even higher then either Findlay store. The grocery prices are awful and the produce quality leaves much to be desired...I think it's safe to say I only go there if I absolutely have to. This is truly a shame considering Ottawa is small and can always use more business.

Shop around before buying any big ticket items at any Walmart. The prices between the Walmart stores can be several dollars to $20 or more per item on higher priced things. Not all Walmarts charge the same price for the same item. Walmart feels that if they have more competition in a area they can charge lower price at that Walmart and if they don't have much competition they can charge higher prices at that Walmart location. Its a rip off as any Walmart is getting the same merchandise at the same price as any other Walmart store, therefore they should all charge the same price for all the items in every Walmart Store. just be careful when shopping at any Walmart and compare prices with other stores on higher ticket items.

It is common practice in all chain stores. I work in the automotive after-market. Our pricing at a particular location is based on that locations competition. The more local competition, the lower the pricing tier will be. The less the competition, the higher tier pricing. I do not care for the practices, but everyone does it. Lowes, Home Depot, Walgreens, Krogers, and even McDonalds. We have employees from other districts that will come to our store to get their parts because our market is on lower tier pricing. It is just the nature of the beast. Shop around.

It is a shame that Walmart has price differences at their 2 stores in the same town here in Findlay they should not penalize people for shopping at the Trenton Avenue location by having higher prices there than at the Tiffin Avenue location. I will not shop Walmart any more and suggest everyone boycott them and shop elsewhere. There are lots of other stores here besides Walmart to shop at.

This is a real problem where I live too. Wal*Mart charges a higher price at the stores in the poorer neighborhoods here. If I shop at my store next to me, I'll pay higher prices for most products compared to a Wal*Mart in the nicer part of town. Go figure that one. Birdy...

I've seen this at Walmart and many other stores over the last few years. Here in Cleveland, I live within a 15 miles distance of 4-5 Walmarts and one in particular always seems to be a bit higher. It's not an uncommon practice, though.
